Agent G Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 (edited) This is yet another USMC M4 Sherman from Iwo Jima. This one though, is 1/72 scale. Everything in gray is from the kit. Everything else is scratch built. I used pipe screens from a smoke shop for the hatch covers. Base coated in MM Acryl Olive Drab. Hand painting to come. G Edited September 21, 2015 by Agent G
Agent G Posted September 15, 2015 Author Posted September 15, 2015 I took some DAS air drying clay and rolled it out into a long thin shape. I flattened it slightly the cut off individual sections with a curved Xacto blade.I positioned them one by one and when I was happy with the layout, I thinned some Elmer's glue with water and brushed it on and around the stack of bags. Danno Posted September 16, 2015 Posted September 16, 2015 Outstanding!!! At least as far as I can tell, without my microscope.
bobthehobbyguy Posted September 16, 2015 Posted September 16, 2015 (edited) Nice work. Have to ask where the term braille scale comes from? Edited September 16, 2015 by bobthehobbyguy
Agent G Posted September 16, 2015 Author Posted September 16, 2015 Nice work. Have to ask where the term braille scale comes from? It's a term used by armor modelers when referring to anything in 1/72 scale. The kits are so tiny you have to feel your way.G
bobthehobbyguy Posted September 16, 2015 Posted September 16, 2015 Thanks never heard that term used before.
Agent G Posted September 19, 2015 Author Posted September 19, 2015 Here's a little bit more. Almost there now. Camo is hand painted in MM Acryl colors. I hand lettered the name in Vallejo acrylic. This was a real tank in "B" Co, 4th Tank Battalion. G
Harry P. Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 Jeez man... where do you display all these cool tanks? You must have a ton of them built by now...
Ace-Garageguy Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 Another beauty. I can just about hear the tracks clanking.
Agent G Posted September 23, 2015 Author Posted September 23, 2015 Jeez man... where do you display all these cool tanks? You must have a ton of them built by now... Well, I do have a good size house......... G
Roadrunner Posted October 7, 2015 Posted October 7, 2015 Just curious if you have this book, G. It's actually pretty cool. I've been collecting armor books for eons now.
Agent G Posted October 8, 2015 Author Posted October 8, 2015 Kevin that book has become my bible for all things USMC on Iwo Jima.G
Roadrunner Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 I believe it's the only book I have that's specifically dedicated to Iwo.
