Well, I picked up a few of the Lindberg Snap police cars at Ollies and I must say, Not sure if these are reissues from Round2 or not. I have 2 originals from Lindberg when they first came out and these are much nicer. The original was molded in color and that was it. The R2 versions have prepainted bodies, and the trim is prepainted also. Unlike the originals, the tail lights are multi color and not just red. Decals, not stickers, very detailed one piece chassis. The chassis and interior could use some paint and detailing but these will build up very nice right out of the box

Lindberg did those too,  they are pre painted body version's of the kit,  and has nothing to do with Round2,  Round2 did not own Lindberg when those kits were released.

I purchased 2 when Lindberg first released them and they were molded in the main color and no painted trim. The ones I just purchased are molded in the main color, secondary color painted and entire body is nicely polished. The door handles and side trim are also painted. Unsure about the decals though because I did not use them on the original ones I purchased.

Maybe these are later releases, unsure, but they are a lot nicer than my originals.

Might have to grab one; good way to get a Vic and a case at a decent price. Haven't seen one out my way yet, I'll have to try one of the other shops.

So far there have been 3 issues of this kit. The first was in the late 90's with the Ohio State Patrol and Orange County Fire Authority versions. Then we had the 6 multi-agency releases back around 2008 or so. And now we have this re-release, which seems to be a simplified version of the 2008 re-issues but with security decals instead of law enforcement markings.

I still honestly prefer the original Lindberg versions. They contain more in the way of extra equipment, such as a detailed Vector/Vision light bar and spotlights. In addition to this, the tail lights are fully red instead of a half-assed red/clear that the re-issues have. All around, the original is better if you want a good kit to paint and customize with extra parts, but the re-issues are better if you want a pre-painted kit and want to skip that step.

Andy, do you mind showing us pictures of the kits you just picked up? I'm curious to see what's in them.

Thanks.

I Love the Lindberg 97 Crown Vic's too.

Though the Pre-painted are nicer than the original Ohio kit,

The Vector/Vision Light bar in that kit was Better than the MX in All subsequint re-issues

and the Best ever Vision/Vector offered in scale including rotator/reflectors for Each

dome!!!

Wonder what happened to that tooling insert(s)!!

The MX looks slightly small for the Full size Crown-Vic, better fitting for Rev's Impala.

The Re-tooled tail lights cast in Clear rather than the red of the original's makes detailing the back-up lenses

easier.

However they are not correctly masked, nor is the Lightbar cap.

91% Isopropol Alcohol Will strip the paint where Wesley's Won't (YES I tried!!!!)

Wonder if L.A.'s Totally Awesome will work.

I can see there's much you and I agree on :P About the tail lights, I use bare metal foil for the chrome strip at the bottom so working with an all-red lens is much easier than working with a poorly masked off half red/half clear piece.
