cobraman Posted October 18, 2015 Posted October 18, 2015 (edited) Nice to have this kit back again. Just starting to work on it. Plan is to build it up like the 1:1 I have in the garage. Some chrome needs to be stripped and redone. Not fond of the two piece tires but we can make them work. Edited October 29, 2015 by cobraman reflectd model done
cobraman Posted October 22, 2015 Author Posted October 22, 2015 Got some time to work on this one. Here is where I am now.
cobraman Posted October 26, 2015 Author Posted October 26, 2015 I was able to get a little more done on this project.
slusher Posted October 28, 2015 Posted October 28, 2015 Real nice work Ray, shaping up to be an awesome build..
cobraman Posted October 29, 2015 Author Posted October 29, 2015 Hello guys. I have just finished this kit. I must say that this was a pleasure to build. It is a nice little kit that builds up well. I can highly recommend it if you have any interest at all in bikes. I built a simple base for it so it would be more secure. Comments as always are welcome pro or con. Thanks for looking.
wayne swayze Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 Really nice job! Nice to have one in the garage to get it right.
cobraman Posted October 29, 2015 Author Posted October 29, 2015 Thanks Wayne. Having the real one to look at did help some.
von Zipper Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 Nicely done ! I like that. What did you use to attach the seat to the seat frame ? -does your seat flip open ?
Dave Van Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 Very nice work!!! I picked up the kit at Toledo. I spent WAY too much time on a real Trail 70 back in the day. Loved that bike. Buddy had a 60 and we rode all the time in mountains of WV.
cobraman Posted October 30, 2015 Author Posted October 30, 2015 Nicely done ! I like that. What did you use to attach the seat to the seat frame ? -does your seat flip open ?I used Gorilla glue to attach the plastic frame to the vinyl seat. Yes the seat does flip forward.
unclescott58 Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 (edited) Turned out great Ray. Looks exactly like the one I remember my neighbors across the street having at the time. Man I wanted that bike. Now that I have model, I can kind of have one. The only thing is I love the color blue. Does anybody have a good idea of paint that comes in spray can, that would be very close to the blue that Honda offered on those early Trail 70s?Also Ray, can we see more pictures of yours. Maybe with the seat up? Or some closeup shots. I'm still confused on two things with this kit. What and where does the one end of the spark plug attach? And where exactly is one suppose to put the decal that goes on the front post? I don't see it on yours. It maybe blocked from view by the front forks? Edited October 30, 2015 by unclescott58
cobraman Posted October 30, 2015 Author Posted October 30, 2015 The blue may have been a candy blue. Not 100 % sure.
cobraman Posted October 30, 2015 Author Posted October 30, 2015 Some research shows it was Candy Sapphire Blue.
cobraman Posted October 31, 2015 Author Posted October 31, 2015 Thank you Carl. I have not enjoyed a build this much in a long time.
jaydar Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 Very nice Ray. The red looks perfect as I remember seeing them. What did you use? Thanks for sharing,Joe.
