disabled modeler Posted October 31, 2015 Posted October 31, 2015 Yes..! Very cool hauler...!...gives me ideas...
landman Posted October 31, 2015 Author Posted October 31, 2015 (edited) Meanwhile, back at the ranch, they're working on the chassis. Edited January 14, 2021 by landman
landman Posted November 1, 2015 Author Posted November 1, 2015 (edited) Couldn't help it, had to try it in there. Looks like the generator & compressor will have to come up top as in the 3rd pic. That rad will likely be too tall. Can anyone guess the approximate wheelbase of this puppy. I think I may have to shorten the frame a bit. Edited January 14, 2021 by landman
landman Posted November 2, 2015 Author Posted November 2, 2015 (edited) Added axles. Removed the generator, compressor, and the pulleys to remove the belts. Relocated the generator. The compressor will need to be modified. Edited January 14, 2021 by landman
kilrathy10 Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 Looking awesome....I like that old pic....It looks awesome in orange.....
landman Posted November 2, 2015 Author Posted November 2, 2015 Looking awesome....I like that old pic....It looks awesome in orange.....That was taken about 50 years ago. It is at least a 64 as we found out above by the windshield pillars, and in 68 the company went to a yellow/gold/ orange with white doors.
landman Posted November 2, 2015 Author Posted November 2, 2015 (edited) Raised the compressor & generator & made new belts. Better fit. Easier to service too. Put some wheels on to determine the size of the fenders I'll scratch build. Winch is from AITM. Stole some round tanks from the Snap Pete. Edited January 14, 2021 by landman
DRIPTROIT 71 Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 Excellent work! Looking forward to seeing this one done!
kilrathy10 Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 That is a good looking motor....Nice work on the belts....Thanks for the info on the color schemes.....I really like that orange one, though....Too cool....
gatorincebu Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 Pat, That motor looks really good in the chassis. I like your plan for the rear fenders. Where did you get the winch? I could use a couple like that. Be Well Gator

landman Posted November 3, 2015 Author Posted November 3, 2015 (edited) Decorated the tanks. Then started making some exhaust pipes out of solder & small plastic tubing (actually sucker sticks). Had to move the oil filter to the front. It looks like it'll clear everything. Edited January 14, 2021 by landman
landman Posted November 3, 2015 Author Posted November 3, 2015 Love your project!!!It is a lot like yours..
landman Posted November 3, 2015 Author Posted November 3, 2015 (edited) Started fooling around with the rear fenders. used hex rod at the end to get an easy 45 degrees. Edited January 14, 2021 by landman
dodgefever Posted November 3, 2015 Posted November 3, 2015 Can anyone guess the approximate wheelbase of this puppy. I think I may have to shorten the frame a bit. Quick and dirty calculation: about 190" (front axle to centre of bogie). That's roughly scaled from the tyres, assuming ~42" OD.

redneckrigger Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 Love the oldies.............FAR more than anything made after the 70's and earlier! GREAT work!
landman Posted November 4, 2015 Author Posted November 4, 2015 In my case it is because of the effect they had on me as a kid in the 50's. I was fascinated by the B-61 the wholesale grocer who came to the general store in my village had. There were R & S Internationals all over the place because ther was only one local dealer, IH.He also sold cars, first Packards, then Stude, then AMC. I remember a red 57 or so GMC dump truck that looked exactly like the one I had in my sandbox. Somehow the old trucks still turn my crank while the new ones are like appliances to me.
