Jantrix Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 It goes without saying that they are stylistically dated. Our most modern offerings from Revell are very traditional old school ot rods and they sell real well. As-is, I wouldn't expect the demand for these 34's to be high. However if they were to put a little time and $$ into back dating the kit (at least the coupe) to something from the 1960's it might turn out be the most popular 1/16 scale kit of all time.
Toner283 Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 I have never seen the big scale coupe up close. How are the proportions on the body? Because our proprotions on all of the smaller ones are kind of wonky. If the proportions are right then I have to agree with Jantrix. A bit of backdating to a moe traditional style and it would probably sell very well.
Art Anderson Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 I would wonder if they even sold very well when they were first issued in late 1985 though. I was in the hobby retail business then, and had some of those on the shelves for months--it could well have been the rather unattractive box art at the time. However, a really good indicator of whether to reissue a model car kit is the sales experience the first time around.Art

Almost to the point where people were wishing they would downsize the kit into 1/25 scale. I have the coupe but have never opened it.
cobraman Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 I had both of these kits when they were new. I thought they were pretty nice. You can't tell the book by looking at the cover. I thought they were better than the box photos would suggest. Just one mans opinion.

Look really close and compare the shape and proportions of the body, particularly the windshield and side windows and their relationship to one another. It's exactly the same as Revell's current '34 Coupe snap-tite. The grill is the same shape, too. For some reason, though, the hood on the snap-tite is too short. It's not the greatest chop in the world. The shape of the side windows is a bit wonky.I was a kid when these came out and I wanted them really bad. I'd still like to have them for nostalgic reasons. They show up on Ebay fairly often but are usually priced in the $50 - $70 range. One of these days...
