Happy Halloween to you too.  I had to check the calendar since we've been here all day and NO KIDS!  It was a nice sunny day and when we were kids we would have gone begging for the entire day!    We have all kinds of candy and I even have a tray of extra Matchbox size cars to give away!

Early this morning my wife prodded me to get outside and sweep up all the acorns on the driveway so we didn't have anyone slip and fall.  This year there are a bumper crop of acorns.  Last weekend, I literally filled a trash barrel with them, and today I filled one a quarter full.  I dumped them all back in the woods near the brook so the squirrels will eat them all winter.   Once the acorns were all out of the way, I noticed that the bushes on both sides of our front walk had grown quite a bit over the summer.  So I got out the hedge clipper and gave them all a haircut so kids and parents can walk to our front door.  That led to weeding the front gardens so the neighbors wouldn't think we were hillbillies... I spent four hours out there... and... NO KIDS!    Argh!

No kids here, either. Then again, there really aren't a lot of kids on my street.

One of my friends had about 50 in another town, and almost nobody lives on her street.

An update-  We did get kids, but after dark... turns out that our area allows Trick or Treating from 6pm - 8-pm.  That goes against my safety wisdom to have kids running around in the dark. Especially when we had such a nice day yesterday.

We didn't get a load of kids since these are acre properties and the houses sit a ways back.  And we have no street lights.  Not exactly productive for Trick or Treaters on a short schedule!  The folks behind me live on a flag lot and have a 500 foot driveway. The lady was complaining that no kids ever ventured to her house.

But in the end we had a few dozen kids from the neighborhood.  Someone was giving out beers to the dads since two showed up at my house with an open bottle! Anyway, we gave away some candy and Matchbox cars.  And we have more of each left over.
