maltsr Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 (edited) This is my second build from the excellent Revell kit, and is long overdue. The kit fender skirts have been used, shortened in height and with three slots added for some side trim spears. Paint is my usual Tamiya rattlecan, this time using Coral Blue. Custom Mercs are frequently covered in dark metallic paint, so I thought I would try something different this time. Of course, a very famous custom was painted in a pastel shade, so not exactly new ground . Edited November 11, 2015 by maltsr

cobraman Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 Color is great as is your mod to the fender skirts.
GMCMAN52 Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 OH My what a nice color your off to a great start
DumpyDan Posted November 3, 2015 Posted November 3, 2015 I like the color choice, nice work on the skirts
maltsr Posted November 5, 2015 Author Posted November 5, 2015 (edited) Rolling chassis has been completed, the engine received plug wires and the chassis was built out of box because the kit has a nice ride height as it comes. Since they are mostly hidden by the skirts, I'm using parts box rear tyres which will have handpainted whitewalls similar to the photo below. The two kit wheels/tyres will find their way onto the front of another build. Edited November 5, 2015 by maltsr
62pyro Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 Looking real good.I love what you did with the skirts.
58 Impala Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 Nice work! Love the fender skirts, never would have thought of that.
maltsr Posted November 11, 2015 Author Posted November 11, 2015 (edited) The finished interior has been joined with the chassis. Colours are Tamiya Racing White with Titanium Gold accents. I've just treated the windows to some BMF, so hopefully not long to go now! Edited November 11, 2015 by maltsr
slusher Posted November 11, 2015 Posted November 11, 2015 Interior and engine compartment looks awesome. Did you brush or spray the interior accent colors???
maltsr Posted November 11, 2015 Author Posted November 11, 2015 Interior and engine compartment looks awesome. Did you brush or spray the interior accent colors???Cheers Carl - the accent gold was brushed using bottle enamel.
peekay Posted November 11, 2015 Posted November 11, 2015 Looking great, Paul! Very tasteful idea with the slotted skirts.
misterNNL Posted November 11, 2015 Posted November 11, 2015 Great job Paul. The slotted skirts with chrome spears add extra intrest pulling the viewer's eye away from the top. Thanks for sharing!
maltsr Posted November 11, 2015 Author Posted November 11, 2015 Pulled it together this morning. I used the kits optional bullet taillamps, but I think they are a tad too small
showrods Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 A tremendous build! What paints/colours did you use on the frame; undercarriage; transmission etc?
dino246gt Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 Beautiful! That rear ribbed bumper looks like you flowed white between the ribs, sweet! Such a CLEAN build, nice!
