dragstk Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 Hi all; I'm looking for a set of wheels like in the picture, but in an 18-20" size. I know the wheels in the new Revell 29 kit are good, but I'm looking for bigger wheels. Anybody know of a kit or an after market company that would have something like this? Thanks
Ace-Garageguy Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 (edited) The old BlackForce snapper has some beauties. Not exactly, but close to what you want (but you'll have to paint the whitewalls). Edited November 18, 2015 by Ace-Garageguy
dragstk Posted November 18, 2015 Author Posted November 18, 2015 Thanks Bill; I never thought about a snap model, but this is a good idea. I'll check it out. Thanks again
gtx6970 Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 That's a pretty cool looking car.Kind of art deco looking
JTalmage Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 Might try Steve Zimmerman as well... I think he has some similar wheels... but he has sooo many its hard to say!
dragstk Posted November 18, 2015 Author Posted November 18, 2015 Hey Jesse;Does Steve has a model business? How would I contact him? Thanks
dragstk Posted November 18, 2015 Author Posted November 18, 2015 Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on how you look at it ) I am not on FB
ChrisBcritter Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 Would the wheels/WWW tires in the Monogram '41 Continental work? They're 1/24 scale so they look even larger on a 1/25 model.
dragstk Posted November 19, 2015 Author Posted November 19, 2015 Thanks for the idea on using a 1/24 scale wheel. The thought had crossed my mind, but I hadnt found any kits yet. Good idea.Jeff, first- very cool model! "Sleeved" your wheels? Care to explain how you did it or point to a thread that covers it? Thanks guys
jeffs396 Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 Jeff, here's the best way to describe the aluminum sleeve process, courtesy of spencer1984 (a member here): Just find a kit steelie and center cap that suits your needs, and sand 'em down to fit inside the aluminum sleeves (that's what I did on my '32 Chevy above...)
dragstk Posted November 21, 2015 Author Posted November 21, 2015 Very cool, Jeff. Thanks! Im going to have to try this
dragstk Posted November 27, 2015 Author Posted November 27, 2015 A friend of mine showed me some of Steve Zimmerman's wheels, Definitely some nice wheels and he has some that I'm looking for. So, I sighed up to Facebook and wrote to Steve about his wheels. That was a week ago, and no reply.Anybody have experience with Steve? Is he ok? Still in business? To busy?Any help here would be appreciated. Thanks
Ramfins59 Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 Steve is a Forum member...... Try sending him a PM to Steven Zimmerman.
dragstk Posted November 28, 2015 Author Posted November 28, 2015 Thanks Rich. Actually Steve saw the thread and contacted me.
