Old Buckaroo Posted December 15, 2015 Author Posted December 15, 2015 Howdy Mark, Thanks for looking in. I think I will be leaning towards more "old school trucks" this Winter. Vic I hope I can keep the momentum going forward ! Rich - Thank you I got the cab painted last week, I also went for the "wall furnace" air intake - K&S Brass was used. Thanks for looking in
Superpeterbilt Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 Looks good. Is the chassis going to be the orange color?
scummy Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 Coming along real good and thanks for the cab hinge idea , brilliant .
Tesla Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 The paint looks real nice Sean. Great choice for the intake.
DRIPTROIT 71 Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 I like the color scheme! I'm glad you went with the wall furnace. The notes that I'm taking will help me with mine. The 1:1 truck that I'm going to replicate had the wall furnace.
Old Buckaroo Posted December 17, 2015 Author Posted December 17, 2015 (edited) Is the chassis going to be the orange color? Terry - Just the fuel tanks and air filter can Mark -I hope the hinge idea works for you, I was going nuts trying to come up with something. Dennis - Thank you. Brian - let me know as I have extra rectangular brass . Mark Orr - Thank you for stopping by. Little update for this week, getting more paint sprayed. I need to get decide how I am going to paint the inner cab and start making up the outer cab details. Thanks for looking in Edited December 17, 2015 by Old Buckaroo

10thumbs Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 Looking good Sean!Questions; #1 what's a "Jap Freightliner"? #2, what's a wall furnace? #3, the diesel shown has an exhaust both sides, right? Why both into one pipe?Michael
Old Buckaroo Posted December 17, 2015 Author Posted December 17, 2015 (edited) Questions; #1 what's a "Jap Freightliner"? #2, what's a wall furnace? #3, the diesel shown has an exhaust both sides, right? Why both into one pipe? Michael Michael - These Whites were called Jap Freightliner's due to many of the components were marked "Made in Japan". The "wall furnace" intake was a name I gave that big rectangle intake as it reminded me of the old vertical "Wall furnace" heaters that use to be common in houses. The exhaust 2 into one 1 - Because that is what I wanted a single stack. Edited December 17, 2015 by Old Buckaroo

guitarsam326 Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 Good lookin truck Sean. I like the weathering!
Old Buckaroo Posted December 18, 2015 Author Posted December 18, 2015 Good lookin truck Sean. I like the weathering! Thanks Sam, I really had to tone it down as the fresh painted Black and Orange was not working. Here is a tip for you guys - My exhaust work no matter how many times I checked and adjusted I still had a nasty gap that looked like a wedge cut out of a tree. I filled it in on the left above the flex pipe with everyday white glue usinga pointed toothpick. When dry as it is now it leaves a fillet that can then be touched up with some paint. Here is my pride - the intake grills. Not like the prototype but close enough. I used some photo etch radar screen from back in my ship building days. I will not tell you how many times I have removed them, stripped them and reattached. The white glue was too thick and plugging the holes. I flashed back to earlier modeling days when I used a lot of that by product of the Devil himself (photo etch) and used Future brushed on as an adhesive. I hope those tips will make life easier for some of you. Thanks for looking in
redneckrigger Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 Wow.....................awesome details and paint work. KEEP IT UP!
Tesla Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 Spot on weathering Sean...it looks terrific!!
disabled modeler Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 Awesome work....be nice if the kit companies could offer us some old truck like this. I remember years ago AMT was supposed to issue a Garbage truck and a old Dragline crane...shame it never happened. Keep up the awesome work...
Old Buckaroo Posted December 22, 2015 Author Posted December 22, 2015 I am still making forward progress. I still need to build a set of headlights and bezels (where did I put that pen) source some door handles and clearance lights and a few other things for the cab. Thanks for looking in

DRIPTROIT 71 Posted December 22, 2015 Posted December 22, 2015 Awesome work!!! You nailed the grill, something that is often overlooked on these. Did you open it up, or is that your paint work? Either way, you nailed it!!!
