Sportabout Posted December 6, 2015 Posted December 6, 2015 (edited) I have had a poor Classic taxi promo for years but not interested in restoring it. One day I found this site http://bangshift.com/general-news/roadside-find-a-1962-rambler-snow-plow-trar/ and saw the light. Winter is coming and I need a reliable snow plow, and right brand of course. First I bought Lindberg Ford F-150 4x4 kit because of its four wheel chassis. In ebay I found resin roof lights and horn. I needed snow plow too and it cme from Revell GMC pickup. By now body, chassis and wheels are painted but it need some rust and dirt. Edited December 6, 2015 by Sportabout
mikemodeler Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 definitely different! Should be a cool setup when you are done!
gatorincebu Posted December 10, 2015 Posted December 10, 2015 Really a cool project! I like that you are giving new life to the old diecast Rambler. Be Well Gator
Sportabout Posted December 12, 2015 Author Posted December 12, 2015 Ford 4x4 chassis is in progress but It still needs some trimmig to rambler body. Engine is '97-98 5.4 l Ford V8 as it comes with the kit. Rambler original 232 straight six would be another option but it would be more difficult to install to the Ford chassis. Underside Rambler chassis fits quite well on the Ford frame.
Sportabout Posted December 17, 2015 Author Posted December 17, 2015 Interior has been painted and I tried to make it a bit worn. Wheel base had to shorten 1 cm and rear drive shaft too. Front wheels are modified bacause front trac is too wide. Snow plow is also under construction
gatorincebu Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 Very cool project here ! I remember seeing some pictures of a vehicle like this. You are doing a real fine job on recreating that vehicle. Be Well Gator
Belugawrx Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 That's cool Kari ! I will follow this one Cheers
Sportabout Posted December 18, 2015 Author Posted December 18, 2015 (edited) Front wheels and big modifying tool. Stock rear wheels below. Originally front wheels were strange combination disk brakes and drums Edited December 18, 2015 by Sportabout
Sportabout Posted December 20, 2015 Author Posted December 20, 2015 This is simple way to get bigger tires straight and same track front and back.Best glue for this job is 5 minutes epoxy. I think front wheels looks better when you can see disk brakes through them.
Sportabout Posted January 6, 2016 Author Posted January 6, 2016 Plow is ready now. I noticed body color is too yellow so I have to paint it again.
Sportabout Posted January 28, 2016 Author Posted January 28, 2016 Body is painted again and now with more correct color. Lisence plate is ready Next foiling with bare-metal matte aluminium foil.
Belugawrx Posted January 28, 2016 Posted January 28, 2016 Nice..plow looks suitably bad...Well done Kari Cheers
426-Hemi Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 -LOVE the rust work on the snow plow! NICE job! Plow off the Revell Monogram Chevy?
Sportabout Posted February 11, 2016 Author Posted February 11, 2016 (edited) I painted body with Future/X-21 -mixture and then sanded it lightly with 1200 sandpaper and polished it with tissue to get proper matte finish. Tamiya weathering master B and C will give rust and dirt to body. Edited February 11, 2016 by Sportabout typo :D
Belugawrx Posted February 11, 2016 Posted February 11, 2016 Looking good before the Bad,... Good work Kari Cheers
Sportabout Posted February 21, 2016 Author Posted February 21, 2016 Light bar is ready and it had to test to fit at this time although it it is last part to install.
Belugawrx Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 Nice !keep it somewhere safe, until the End
Sportabout Posted March 12, 2016 Author Posted March 12, 2016 Small uppdate but I think we're finally on the home stretch with this project. Rest parts are waiting their turn.
