Scalper Posted December 11, 2015 Posted December 11, 2015 Interesting kit. This will look wicked I know it
afx Posted December 11, 2015 Posted December 11, 2015 I like where this is going. Ive been wanting to get one of these. I had a 1988 Escort GT and I wish I still had it. It was under powered by today's standards, but it was a blast to drive. Cant wait to see this completed.I had a black '83 GT. Yep a lot of fun.

Brizio Posted December 14, 2015 Author Posted December 14, 2015 I did the inside of one door yesterday night.
Brizio Posted December 21, 2015 Author Posted December 21, 2015 Did some work on the dashboard. Cut and glued the glove box in the open position.
Atmobil Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 I have seen some of your earlier builds and this one is no worse than any others I have seen. You do a great job turning a not-so-good kit in to a gem. This is really great

You do a great job turning a not-so-good kit in to a gem. This is really great Thank you Gaute! I did not had a lot of time to work during the Holydays, but now I'm back... Body painted.
1930fordpickup Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 Bring back the memories of the 80's Escorts/Lynx/Tracers that ran through the family livery. 5 in all. I bought my sisters Tracer from her, what a fun car it was. Had the Escort GT engine in it. Then my niece needed a car so I sold it to my oldest sister for kid. She wrecked it not to long after . The color you chose is close to the Lynx my sister bought new in 82. I built one of the Revell kits back then.
Smallsie Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 (edited) This is the xr3 big sister, series 1 turbo. Had this one for about 3 years before upgrading to a Sierra coswoth both gave you happy grin when hitting the loud pedal Edited January 6, 2016 by Smallsie Sorry for the poor picture quality as these were scanned from the old Polaroid cameras
Brizio Posted January 7, 2016 Author Posted January 7, 2016 Nice work! Thank you Stephen! Bring back the memories of the 80's Escorts/Lynx/Tracers that ran through the family livery. 5 in all. The color you chose is close to the Lynx my sister bought new in 82. I built one of the Revell kits back then. That car was almost a family member. Sad about the wreck, but I hope no one was injured. About the color I was undecided between silver (like Sennas's Ford) or light blue, this one I had a can son light blue it is. This is the xr3 big sister, series 1 turbo. Had this one for about 3 years before upgrading to a Sierra cosworth both gave you happy grin when hitting the loud pedal I bet... A friend of mine had a Sierra Cosworth ex rally car, but road legal, white with blue interior, what a monster...
Brizio Posted January 7, 2016 Author Posted January 7, 2016 The underbody painted and washed. I also added 3 flat tires, and a floor jack... The car will not run...
HotRodaSaurus Posted January 10, 2016 Posted January 10, 2016 Always thought it a shame they did not include a RHD dash in these for us British modellers as Revell did with the E-Type (XKE to you fellows in the US ) I had one of these on my stall for years due to it being LHD
oldcarfan Posted January 10, 2016 Posted January 10, 2016 I went to the Mother In Law's, She Who Must Not Be Named! over the holidays and I do indeed have the AMT and the Revell US versions of this car. I was going to bring them back and grabbed the wrong box. It wasn't all bad though. The box I brought had two of the Revell BRE 510s and two Revell Golfs (Golves? Nah), one the street custom and the other the Valvoline racer. I'll see what I can do with those.
oldcarfan Posted January 10, 2016 Posted January 10, 2016 I just remembered I bought the two different kit versions with the idea to build a copy of my 1:1 US market 1989 Escort GT. I decided it was beyond my skills to convert it and then not too long after I was behind a Semi truck that lost the entire rear wheel set that holds up the trailer. It bounced and squished my poor little car. Kind of lost the will to try.

Some progress on this build. Door frame And this thing... Rear view.
HotRodaSaurus Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 (edited) This kit has both LHD and RHD dash. Thanks for that Mine must have been the Revell kit then. The cloverleaf wheels were quite detailed and looked an interesting model, never had a real Escort though. The Ford cars from this era were just to boxy for my taste and this was all slats and angles. With the flat tires is this a Basildon banger? (You would have had to live there to know ) Neat feature for a Craylands Basildon diorama by the way Cheers, J. Edited January 11, 2016 by HotRodaSaurus
Brizio Posted January 12, 2016 Author Posted January 12, 2016 What IS 'this thing'? After searching for some inspiration online, but with any luck, this car will be a chicken coop... Flat tire, by the way I'm not using the tires from the kit, too wide. Found some taller and skinnier on the part box. I'm making a chicken coop... Driver door.
Brizio Posted January 12, 2016 Author Posted January 12, 2016 The base. For the dirt I used some (used) ground coffee, after painted in a light tan color and washed in dark brown.
