SlotDaddy1963 Posted December 22, 2015 Posted December 22, 2015 took these of a local florist's vehicle, parked intact since the mid-70's I've been told. I would dearly love to find a resin body to convert a Revell 65 pickup!
Crazy Ed Posted December 22, 2015 Posted December 22, 2015 Heck, I wouldn't mind having THAT! I had 2 1960 Panel Trucks. A Standard 1/2 ton and a Long bed 1 ton. Both were Drivers Seat only and I tossed in an overstuffed chair for passengers (back then we didn't worry much about Safety and such. But on the Modeling side I also would like to see a decent '60's Chevy Panel.
dodgefever Posted December 22, 2015 Posted December 22, 2015 Nice photos, thanks for posting those. It's a '63, by the way - different grille and wraparound windshield.
Tom Geiger Posted December 22, 2015 Posted December 22, 2015 That is a pretty cool survivor. I'd love to have that one too! I'd leave the paint and lettering, get her running and maybe a set of cool wheels! There was a resin of that body style (maybe not the exact year) that was done by R&R. They are no longer around since Ray died a few years ago.
mikemodeler Posted December 22, 2015 Posted December 22, 2015 Yeah, R&R offered a panel version, I bought one and the front end warped on me. I will have to check, might still have it as I was trying to sell it at some swap meets this year. If you are interested in it, PM me and I will go through the boxes and see if it is there.
Chuck Most Posted December 23, 2015 Posted December 23, 2015 AC compressor and an alternator (as opposed to a generator). Hmmmmm.... would those have been factory issue for a GM truck of this vintage?
jeffs396 Posted December 23, 2015 Posted December 23, 2015 Nice 1/2 ton panel! Chuck, 1963 was the first year for the alternator. As far as the A/C (and heat), its aftermarket on this panel. Notice the factory block-off plates. Someone needs to buy that truck and put it back on the road!
SlotDaddy1963 Posted December 23, 2015 Author Posted December 23, 2015 True enough about the A/C... the lady who let me take the pics said her grandfather had it installed right after he bought it, because of the flowers the delivered with it
disabled modeler Posted December 23, 2015 Posted December 23, 2015 That is a nice one!...a friend of mine has a 65 panel same color but no where near as nice of condition.
Longbox55 Posted December 23, 2015 Posted December 23, 2015 If you can find one, AAM also made a resin of a panel in that body style. IIRC, it might have been a '60.
Atmobil Posted December 23, 2015 Posted December 23, 2015 Thanks for posting the pictures. I did buy both a panel and a carryall from R&R some years ago. I see that the panel is still listed on the site. http://www.resinrealm.net/Star/RRGalleries/RR_All.html
Petetrucker07 Posted December 23, 2015 Posted December 23, 2015 I wish they'd cast the Carryall again. I still have the 66 Carryall my grandpa bought new. Factory 4 wheel drive. It's a family member. Everyone called it Big Bertha. I'd love to build a scale version of it.
maxwell48098 Posted December 25, 2015 Posted December 25, 2015 I took one of the R&R kits and lengthened it for this rescue truck. A.J.
mikemodeler Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 Thanks for posting the pictures. I did buy both a panel and a carryall from R&R some years ago. I see that the panel is still listed on the site. http://www.resinrealm.net/Star/RRGalleries/RR_All.html I did find my resin kit (as pictured above) and am looking to trade/sell it. PM me with interest.
Art Anderson Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 If you can find one, AAM also made a resin of a panel in that body style. IIRC, it might have been a '60.1962, actually.Art
Longbox55 Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 1962, actually.ArtThanks for the correction. I wasn't 100% sure.
