Like I need another build and build off on my plate. But here it is. I'm using a Jimmy Flintstone chopped Pete cab. This be done Welderup style. The entire build will be from the parts box. I have everything I need, the twin turbo Cummins, rubber casted float steers that I'll be using for the drive axle, I've got slews of Revell rims and tires I can use, extra drive axle, steer axle, I'm pretty sure I have a frame, a few sets of Revell stacks, and all the interior parts I need. Here's the cab. I need to get all the parts together and then I'll post those.

Clayton this is a build I'll like.  Ripping the heck out of it come what may.  Interesting too what a 1:1 trucker wants to do with a handful of parts.

How is the JF body?

I have had 3 stashed away, 1 is a maybe future build, 1 is done already (lots of work needed) and the other I can use as a source for panels or something.

But a chopped truck has my interest.

I'll just bet money this Pete will a big bumper up front, kinda shiny low to the ground, am I right?

Thanks Rich. This idea just came to me this morning. What I have in mind doesn't fit the BRBO guidelines

Thank you Dennis. I've had this cab sittin around for over a year now. The plan hit me like a truck and POW! Italy gettin built now.  And, good luck my friend! I'm lookin forward to that next project.

Gator, I'm lookin forward to comments and ideas on this. The gears in my head never stopped in my motivation slump. I just couldn't put the knife to styrene. Hopefully I found some motivation. This build and the BRBO are long build times, so these shouldn't be a problem.

And Micheal, I forgot to answer your question earlier. The casting on this cab isn't too bad. The windows were "flashed" shut. But the lines appear to be straight, no sink holes.

Gettin some parts together. I'm gonna use the Revell stwers, not the Moebius ones in the pic. This is kinda what I'm goin for. I'm cutting the mufflers off the Revell stacks so I'm left with short, 5 inch straight stacks.

Here are some idea mock up pics. I altered the Revell drive rims to fit the super singles.

And here's a pic with the visor I'm thinkin of using.

Thanks for checkin on on this Brian and JT. So far I'm having a good time tinkering on this. I think the biggest challenge on this is the frame. I'm gonna have to noggin scratchin on it.

Looking good so far!  I used the similar rears on Devils Cut, they work great. They give the truck the attitude your cab possess. I like the turbo idea,  big and nasty

For the frame, take a look at the one I built, using channel instead of tube, might help get the frame ideas rolling. Have you decided on a suspension yet? Pissed off had 1/4 elipticals on the rear,  and a custom torsion bar on the front,  the tube hidden under the radiator.  I always liked the huge axle hanging out front..it's a big truck gotta keep that vibe!!

Watch your tranny choice, mine was off the 359, and caused fit issues inside for the tranny tunnel

Looking forward to your build,

Jeff

Thanks for the tips Jeff. I pulled out a package of 5/16 Green Sheet channel. I'm gonna use the old style air ride system from the suspension I didn't use on my 352 or maybe the 8 bag from a snap KW parts kit I got. I had planned on a custom floor designed around the trans then find seats that fit in spots. I'm gonna use a snap 359 dash I think, the super detailed post of one got my detailing juices flowin, I think. I'm gonna do a hot rod style front suspension and of course using the Peterbilt axle, it is a Pete after all. I'm lookin forward to this one. It's got me excited.

I took a look at your Devils Cut. That's how I'm wanting to do the frame. Then that slant chop you put on it, man it looks mean.

I've re-thought my exhaust. I think straight off the turbo, Welderup style is more appropriate for this, being a single exhaust anyway.

  Clayton,

i like where you are going with this one. for the interior. After you modify and build a floor board. Why not build a raised platform and make a bench seat.

After all it is an old hot rod???

Clayton, I know that I couldn't pull it off, but if any one could it is you: "Bare metal cab"

It has crossed my mind.
