I'm not sure where those rims came from, they might be in the kit. I may have to start one to check

Raul_Perez Posted March 26, 2008 Posted March 26, 2008 Now thats what I'm talking about!!! Very nice work, Manuel!! Very nice indeed!!
MrObsessive Posted March 27, 2008 Posted March 27, 2008 (edited) Well, here's a '58 Golden Hawk conversion from a '53 that I built back in 1997-98. Unfortunately, it was attacked by a big overactive cat and had it's hood damaged. I started to rebuild the hood but lost interest in it. Digging it back out now has me thinking about trying to restore it. There are some body work changes I'd like to do-----particularly with the lower front grilles and the doors and door jambs...................we'll see. Take a look..................... What I'd like to do is find a junker Danbury Mint '57 and use the interior out of that to rebuild it.......but they can be hard to find at best. Edited March 22, 2009 by MrObsessive
marinewifejones Posted March 27, 2008 Posted March 27, 2008 Bill the detail you put into your builds are amazing and the sometimes they crack me up because they are just things I would never expect to see on a model such as the gas door.
Clay Posted March 27, 2008 Author Posted March 27, 2008 OK I know that more ppl had to have built some Studebakers. Lets see them, doesnt matter how bad they are, we all started out bad at one point.
Raul_Perez Posted March 27, 2008 Posted March 27, 2008 OK I know that more ppl had to have built some Studebakers. Lets see them, doesnt matter how bad they are, we all started out bad at one point. Sorry...no finished Studes in my collection...just two kits...

Raul_Perez Posted March 27, 2008 Posted March 27, 2008 OK...I'm going to cheat "a little" here...but only because YOU asked for all Studes, no matter how "bad" they are. So, with a "not so literal" translation of the term "bad", here's the one "bad" Stude in my collection that's built. This is Danbury Mint's limited edition '50 Studebaker Custom. With the Chrysler Corporation having ownership of the Studebaker name and all their products, the good folks at the mint found it appropriate to wedge a Nitrous Oxide powered Viper V10 into the engine bay and call this one "Snake". Mine is serial number 208. Production of this 1:24th scale model was limited to '06. If you want one now, you'll have to pay pretty big $$ for it on eBay, if you can find one. They sold originally for $140. Check out the fully functional hood hinges and the Viper V10 wedged in there! Yep, the gas door opens. This view shows the exhaust that's just in front of the rear tire and the optional cover that goes over the rear seats. There's another piece that snaps on in it's place if you need room for four. Nothing like a little squirt of Nitrous Oxide to help that poor little V10 get all that steel moving! The battery in the trunk helps add a bit of traction! And...the independent front and rear suspension helps make this a first class road car. No, Ani, this one isn't your dad's Stude...but I bet Clay wishes he had a 1:1 car just like it anyway...I know that I sure do...
curt raitz Posted March 27, 2008 Posted March 27, 2008 OK I know that more ppl had to have built some Studebakers. Lets see them, doesnt matter how bad they are, we all started out bad at one point. Clay, I've got the Flintstone salt race body that I plan on building, so i'd better get started on it I'll post pix of it as i start My dad was a Studebaker guy our last one was a '63 wagon with a sliding roof...used to drivre to high school football games with people standing in the back!! before seatbelts, etc

That thing is awesome, however I dont think Ani's dad would like that as a 1:1, he is a purest when it comes to Studebakers and Volkswagens. Clay, I've got the Flintstone salt race body that I plan on building, so i'd better get started on it I'll post pix of it as i start My dad was a Studebaker guy our last one was a '63 wagon with a sliding roof...used to drivre to high school football games with people standing in the back!! before seatbelts, etc Well lets get cracking on it Curt!!!!! Here are a couple of Studes Dwayne You got any more of that Monster? Where did you get the body and what donor kit did you use?
MrObsessive Posted March 27, 2008 Posted March 27, 2008 Bill the detail you put into your builds are amazing and the sometimes they crack me up because they are just things I would never expect to see on a model such as the gas door. Thanks Andrea! The Stude was begging for it because the fuel pipe is so prominent when the trunk is open.........I couldn't resist the call to go ahead and open the gas door and hinge it.
RodBurNeR Posted March 27, 2008 Posted March 27, 2008 Clay, the whole rear quarters and trunk section is the AMT '57 chevy. shaved and smooth, also narrowed to fit the stude width. i dropped the rockers and the front roll pan too. here is a raw pic to show all the different peices before painting. i started out with two old builds i did as a teenager so that is why the odd colors.
