Travis T Posted January 4, 2016 Posted January 4, 2016 I love B series Mack trucks and the Carolina colors will look great on this.
GearUpJammer Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 Nice choice Sam,love the B models.Used to be a common sight around NJ.
purepmd Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 Nice old Mack subject and what a great story behind it !I'm with Sean on this. The personal tie in, the subject, and your ability. Home run.
guitarsam326 Posted February 23, 2016 Author Posted February 23, 2016 Thanks for the kind words fellas. Havent made much progress, alot of planning, gathering pics and studying going on right now, stuff i shoulda done waaaaaaay before starting but oh well. I lost my grandfather a little over a month ago and that has put a big damper on things as well, because he was such a huge influence in my trucking obsession. But im pushing forward now, or at least trying to make some sort of progress. I have added another kit to this builds arsenal.... A diamond reo, basically just for the frame as i gave up on converting the dm frame. Anyway heres a pic of the latest progress, scratch built rear suspension and a modified exhaust manifold to make the engine better resemble an END673.
gino Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 nice work sam ! when I built my B75 I also used the DR frame, it was much easier to work with .
gatorincebu Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 Sam, Please accept our condolences and prayers on the loss of your grandfather.Looks like you are getting organized and have a good start on this project.I like the Carolina red and black. As I drov e for them a few times working off the bench , in Miami back in the late 70's. B-61 with a duplex . Be Well Gator
Tesla Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 Sorry for your loss Sam.The scratch-built parts look good!
DRIPTROIT 71 Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 Great work Sam!! I really like what you're doing with manifold. It makes me want to open the hood on the B-61 that I got from you.
Old Buckaroo Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 Sam - Sorry for you and your family. That is a tough one to overcome. I am happy to see some progress on this and it looks good. It makes me think maybe there should be a club for "frame'less" Diamond Reo cabs. I have quite a few myself and it sounds like there are more out there. We could all get jackets!
guitarsam326 Posted February 25, 2016 Author Posted February 25, 2016 Thanks for the kind words fellas.Sean- ill take one of hose jackets when they come in lol!
guitarsam326 Posted March 30, 2016 Author Posted March 30, 2016 No real updates, ive been working on what seems like an endless array of scratched suspension parts, and battling with getting everything lined up and square on the frame....not to mention sanding away on the cab still.
Tesla Posted March 30, 2016 Posted March 30, 2016 All time consuming but necessary steps to a proper build!
guitarsam326 Posted April 15, 2016 Author Posted April 15, 2016 Lets go ahead and update for April before i forget. Not much progress, built the front cross member/motor mount. Got the frame clean and filled and the cab and hood is sitting ok...well good enough for now.
gatorincebu Posted April 15, 2016 Posted April 15, 2016 Sam, Looks good from where I am ! Be Well Gator
guitarsam326 Posted April 16, 2016 Author Posted April 16, 2016 (edited) Thanks fellas! I gotta get this ol girl outta low-low! Edited April 18, 2016 by guitarsam326
Canso65 Posted April 16, 2016 Posted April 16, 2016 I like what you have done with this so far Sam.Looking forward to more.Rob
guitarsam326 Posted April 28, 2016 Author Posted April 28, 2016 Heres the latest progress on the Mack. I have battled the rear suspension on this truck since January. Its mostly scratch built with modified kit parts, but to ight shes finally together and sittin on her own. Still more detail work to do on the rear suspension, but at least its on the truck.
