Terry, that looks like really clean prep work.  The rear end parts especially, I don't see any seams in the halves.  Do you fill the glued together areas?

Another question,  I don't understand what you mean when you wrote you "you cut off all of the locating pins".  The rear axle housings are smooth as compared to the AMT kit I have in progress.  What's up?

I lightly file the edges that will be glued, but dont trim any of the rest of the part. Then I glue it, then sand the seam, and theres no gap to fill. When I used to completely clean up all edges, I would end up with a void.

What I mean by cutting off the pins is the locating pins inside of a two half part. Most of the time using the pins will result in a misaligned part. On the fuel tanks, rear ends, air tanks, and parts like that.

Heres the end-of-month report. I havent gotten any more work done on the KW. Ive been collecting what photograghs I can find of bare cabs. I want to get as much as I can to be accurate on the inside of the cab. There are a few more sections of the cab to cut out, but I need to strengthen some areas first. Onward to March!

Progress rolls along on the KW.I mounted the fuel tank mounts and temporarily attached the tanks. The air cleaner and battey box have also been mounted. I started adding to the frame where I will make the cab tilt mechanism. I cut out the tool box doors on the cab and cut out the new doors from styrene.

    Terry,

I am loving it. Your chassis is looking good as well as the cab and new doors.

Thanks a lot guys. Moving right along, I was able to get a lot of work done today. I mounted the radiator to the frame before I start fabbing any cab hinges. From there I made some relief cuts in the resin interior tub to clear the radiator tank and the turbo. The resin was thick enough so that all I needed to do was cut out a section and re-skin the inside with .010 styren sheet, and not actually build a visible protruding box for clearance. The turbo on the other hand needed a box. That will be hidden by some fancy fab work on the passenger seat. Im still rolling, and may still have another update later tonight.

Here are the cuts made to the tub

Here its been built back in with styrene

Thank you Dan and Gino!

I was able to start building the cab tilt mechanism. It looks pretty primitive right now, but there will be more detail added(gussets etc). But the cab is officially mounted to the chassis, and it tilts.

Terry - that is some really skillful work on this old Bullnose.  I like the cutout over the turbo , add a vent and it would be a good heat source here in Montana!

The tilt is top notch all the way!
