landman Posted February 6, 2016 Author Posted February 6, 2016 Thanks guys. I felt I had to do a little bit last night, just to change the mood. we have just come back from a two week trip where we visited my wife's dying sister and hung around for almost a week to attend the funeral. Didn't want to drive back and forth, 500 miles one way. I took the opportunity to visit the Hobby House, the oldest hobby house in continuous ownership in the country. Since 1953. He's 82 and still manages it. I don't need to tell you this guy knows his stuff.
Canso65 Posted February 6, 2016 Posted February 6, 2016 Sorry to hear about your sister-in-law Pat.Where is the Hobby House you went to?Your rig is really coming along nicely. Rob

landman Posted February 9, 2016 Author Posted February 9, 2016 (edited) Painted the frame and the wheels. Started assembling the chassis. Edited December 29, 2020 by landman
landman Posted February 11, 2016 Author Posted February 11, 2016 (edited) Chassis is almost done. Parked in the engine shop while I attack the body. That white thing is the next challenge. Edited December 29, 2020 by landman
gino Posted February 11, 2016 Posted February 11, 2016 looks great pat ! nice work on the spoke wheels !
Travis T Posted February 11, 2016 Posted February 11, 2016 Some of you guys are really starting to make me feel bad about my lack of progress! Nice job.
Mopar - D Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 Pat looking really sharp! Now I'm looking forward to see how you go about cutting open the hood and fenders.

Anyway, I started "erasing" the headlights to use the big A100 type singles. Used both the little sanding block and a burr in the drill press. Gingerly, of course. Edited December 29, 2020 by landman
Old Buckaroo Posted February 13, 2016 Posted February 13, 2016 Wow , that really eradicated them! Pat what will you be using to replace them with? I have found sourcing headlights to be quite the challenge. The chassis looks top notch.
DRIPTROIT 71 Posted February 13, 2016 Posted February 13, 2016 This thing is really coming together!! I always liked the single headlight look on these better than the double headlights.

Mopar - D Posted February 13, 2016 Posted February 13, 2016 Looking good Pat. When I get around to build my next one I'm going to make an attempt at cutting it open and hinge the fenders. I think it would make for a cool display with the fenders turned out and the hood up.
landman Posted February 20, 2016 Author Posted February 20, 2016 (edited) Started on the dash and making patterns for the windows. Painted the shock absorbers. All the while I'm trying to figure out how to go about opening the hood and fenders. I have to figure a way to nail the grille to the rad as that is what will hold the swing away fenders. They are hung at the grille. The hood is hung at the cowl. So the grille/fender assembly would be freestanding. Edited December 29, 2020 by landman
Mopar - D Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 (edited) Pat, I agree the radiator/grill has to support the swing out fenders. Here's a picture I found looks like there are some braces from the firewall to the top of the radiator. Edited February 21, 2016 by Mopar - D
landman Posted March 3, 2016 Author Posted March 3, 2016 (edited) The shop redo is far enough along to be able to see the bench again. Finished erasing the head & parking lights. Made up a windshield. that is the part I like the least about those resin cabs, making the windshield.Although It only took two tries this time. Edited December 30, 2020 by landman
Mopar - D Posted March 3, 2016 Posted March 3, 2016 I agree Pat the windshield is the part I don't care for either. Yours looks good.
gatorincebu Posted March 5, 2016 Posted March 5, 2016 Pat, Nice work here. This project is progressing nicely. Be Well Gator
