junkyardjeff Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 I have enough junk parts to build a home made p/u out of a 40 Ford 2 door sedan,I got a nice 1/25 scale home made flatbed that was made out of wood that I will use and right now its a pile of parts and a idea. I want to make it look like something a farmer would have made out of a old car years ago.
junkyardjeff Posted January 4, 2016 Author Posted January 4, 2016 Been a change in direction, going to make it look like a gas station in the 50s took a 2 door sedan and made it a shop truck .
junkyardjeff Posted January 4, 2016 Author Posted January 4, 2016 Its going to be like a 40 ranchero, will be using the back window from a 53 p/u and the interior tub from the sedan delivery.
gatorincebu Posted January 4, 2016 Posted January 4, 2016 Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Looks like a fun build to me !Ā " Necessity is the mother of invention . " I'd bet that there was more than one made out of those old cars back in the day?Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Be WellĀ Ā Ā Ā Ā Gator
junkyardjeff Posted January 8, 2016 Author Posted January 8, 2016 I have a better body on the way,I want to make it much nicer then I could with the present body.
Sixties Sam Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 Jeff, I built a similar model when I was a teenager in the 1960's. I cut the rear of the body off a 40 Ford coupe or sedan model (don't remember which) and glued on a flat piece of plastic with a window cutout to make the back of the cab. I think I used the bed and fenders from either a 53 or 56 Ford pickup. It looked homemade, which is what I wanted.Sam

junkyardjeff Posted January 13, 2016 Author Posted January 13, 2016 I got a new body and a interior tub from a sedan delivery so I was getting them to fit using the old body,I cut down the back of a 53 Ford cab for the rear window.
gatorincebu Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā I would have used the other body. But you choice to change the body is looking very good. Nice work on filling in the back of the cab!Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Be WellĀ Ā Ā Ā Ā Gator
junkyardjeff Posted January 13, 2016 Author Posted January 13, 2016 The body in the pictures is the junk one and still have to cut the new body after I get a razor saw.
junkyardjeff Posted November 11, 2017 Author Posted November 11, 2017 I gave up on it and used the rest of the parts on other 40s but the other day I got working on the body and repaired it so I think it might get finished this time.
junkyardjeff Posted November 12, 2017 Author Posted November 12, 2017 Its in color and since the body is not that great it will have the beater look, this thing came close to being thrown in the trash and probably should have but its going to live on. Its a satin red that I had in stock.
junkyardjeff Posted November 15, 2017 Author Posted November 15, 2017 Its starting to look like something now,its probably a waste of time but I have used up some junk parts andĀ something to do while paint and glue dry.
