That colour looks good enough to eat!

Love the color choice, the side windows now look perfect. Looking to see how this turn out.

Thanks fellas! I'm anxious to get some color on. But I still have a good bit of adjustments and body work left to do before I prime it.

Fixed the hood gap..I may work on the drivers front corner a tad more. Lemme say, first time using evergreen styrene strips, and I'm really impressed with how pliable  these things are. I'm hooked! Little bit of work involved but worth it.

You're really doing a nice job on this, I really like the fix you did one the windows, very good job. Something to think about on your next truck build, I've done a couple of mini tubs by using the inner fenders that are usually on the fleetside beds, just cut them free from the bed sides and floors and put them in place on the inside of the bed you're using, clean, quick, and gives it almost a factory built appearance.

Ever think of giving it a 50/50 ice cream bar look by going with a pearl cream two tone with that orange?

Thanks man! Didn't really think about cutting the wheel wells out of a fleetside bed. Don't have one laying around that I'm junking. I'll definitely keep that in mind on my next truck build that requires it though!

I did think about the orange/cream/white color, just not for this truck, and it will be more of a Hugger Orange.  I'm saving that for a 72 Cheyenne, going to make it look like this.....

Hi Scott, I started building one of these about a 100 yrs ago, never got finished. I used a Nascar front suspension on mine and it looked and worked real well. I think I swapped out the whole front frame structure. I'll have to dig it out and look.

Mark, I bet that would be a good idea to use that front suspension. I'm going to have to go hunting lol.

Haven't had much time to get to the bench until today. Saturday was the Hope it Don't Snow show, and I had a blast. I picked up this kit and am going to source some parts put of it to make this build even better.

Going to use the interior out of the SSR. Hated to cut up a perfect kit, but I'm not really a fan of these anyways. Here it is roughly fitted after some cutting, and also what had to be cut off. Needs a little bit of massaging but it will work.

Hey Scott, hope you are making progress on the build. I took some pics of the 57 I was building. These will show the front sub frame I used to build the chassis. I remembered it is from a Nastruck kit. I used only the forward part. The rest is scratch built. Don't laugh, this was started in '93 or '94... If Iwas to get back into it I would rebuild the back half. :)

Nice work on the OP's truck. Getting everything square and fitting right really makes a big difference. Nice window correction too, and I like your choice of interior. :D

And @ astroracer...man...that's about the best looking take on this particular truck I've ever seen. Fine, fine, fine. The proportions are absolutely perfect.

Mark,  Thanks for posting that up. I love the late model stepside bed on this truck...I may have to try to build one like that myself.  Progress is coming along on my build, still fitting and puttying the interior pieces so they'll look right in there. Got the bed primered last night, but still have some sanding to do.

Thanks Bill, I was going to use a stock 55 interior, but then found out my floor pan wouldn't work with the LS swapped engine and tranny raised up so high. So I picked up the SSR kit Saturday at the Hope it Don't Snow Show for some engine parts, but wound up sourcing the interior from it as well.

The window correction was super easy since I was already ditching the vent windows. Little bit of filing and they were corrected.

i like that dash :)

Thanks Richard....hopefully will be seeing some color on this thing before long.

I like where this is going Scott...

Here is one I did a couple of years ago, and like Mark, I used the suspension out of a Nascar kit

Good luck with yours

Cheers

Thanks Bruce!  I must say, your build is sick. I love the stance looks awesome!

I managed to get a little done over the past couple of days. I added some .040 styrene strips on the edges of the door panels and interior tub to take away the gap between the body and the interior tub. Threw some putty on them and then sanded them down today. I'll have to say, I wasn't looking forward to that, but I am happy with the end result! Now all I have to do is glue the door panels to the tub and fill in the rear corner gaps on the tub.

Loving the modified interior and how seamlessly you have integrated it into the cab. Looks like it's an original factory option. Very, very well done.

Some very nice work you've done especially fitting that interior, keep it going, we love it!

Thanks guys! I must say that this build has tested my skills for my first non box stock build. There's been moments when I've wanted to scrap the idea, but it seems to be coming together even though it's taking a while.
