Chu Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 KJ you are killing me with The grill and the spoke wheels. Question are you going to work on a six spoke rims? Thanks Jesus
GearUpJammer Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 Looks great KJ,make sure those spacers are on all the way so you don't get any wheel wobble lol!
KJ790 Posted January 23, 2016 Author Posted January 23, 2016 Alright, Sam (guitarsam326) was nice enough to trade me a V8 detroit engine for some parts that I had. This week I finished the masters for my correct 8V92 valve covers, it always bothered me that the kit valve covers were wrong. Here is how the new ones look.
DRIPTROIT 71 Posted January 23, 2016 Posted January 23, 2016 KJ I'm drooling! I need these valve covers!! Alright, Sam (guitarsam326) was nice enough to trade me a V8 detroit engine for some parts that I had. This week I finished the masters for my correct 8V92 valve covers, it always bothered me that the kit valve covers were wrong. Here is how the new ones look. These are much better than any that I've seen! I've been wanting something like these for years. I realize that the very early 92's had round 71 style valve covers, but in scale to me they scream 71 series. I can build a Silver 92 with a set of those. Let me know when they become available.
10thumbs Posted January 24, 2016 Posted January 24, 2016 KJ, those are great looking parts. The spoke wheels are just too good, great that they're 2 piece too, man I have some plans for those in the future.
KJ790 Posted March 18, 2016 Author Posted March 18, 2016 It's been a long time since I have touched this build, but last night I started putting the frame together. I am using a metal steerable front axle from KFS and a resin torsion bar suspension.
DRIPTROIT 71 Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 Very nice!! I've never used the torsion bar suspension before, but I've always wanted to try it, at least one time. I've heard that it can be kind of tricky to install.
KJ790 Posted March 18, 2016 Author Posted March 18, 2016 This is my 3rd time using a torsion bar suspension. They are a pain to put together, but my last 2 attempts turned out alright in the end. I am hoping that I can repeat my success this time!
Force Posted March 21, 2016 Posted March 21, 2016 (edited) This is my 3rd time using a torsion bar suspension. They are a pain to put together, but my last 2 attempts turned out alright in the end. I am hoping that I can repeat my success this time!I have some resin torsion bar suspensions for future projects, (Papa Truck, Snowman truck and Movin On truck), one set from P&P Resinworks and two sets from Melbourne Model Truck Accessories and I haven't tried this type of suspension yet so I'm eager to see one put together. The only torsion bar truck suspension i have put together myself is for the single drive on the Super Boss truck. gatorincebu Posted March 21, 2016 Posted March 21, 2016 Kurt, Glad to see that you put this one back on the bench ! I will be looking for further updates. Be Well Gator
KJ790 Posted April 12, 2016 Author Posted April 12, 2016 Alright, I haven't had much time to work on this, but I finally got to work on the engine a little bit.
extmcdriver Posted April 19, 2016 Posted April 19, 2016 Awesome job so far, I love building the torsion bar suspension, always a challenge to get it right.
KJ790 Posted April 21, 2016 Author Posted April 21, 2016 Finally finished the rest of the suspension and started fitting the engine to the chassis.
DRIPTROIT 71 Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 Looking Great!! I really like that engine!!!
