Early May update: Nothing to update. Been getting a lot of painting and building done, but unfortunately it's a fence, not a kit! Out of town this week on business, hoping to get some bench time this weekend. :)

Yay! I actually got some time to work on some kits this weekend!

Finally got some of the brake lines run on the Prostar. I need to redo the one, as I'm not completely happy with it. But then again, most trucks aren't perfect in the routing of lines, so I may just leave it.

Also tried the Duplicolor Chrome paint on the fuel tanks. I like it. It's not toy-like like the chrome that comes from factory, and is much brighter than anything from the other brands. I've never tried Alclad as I don't have an airbrush, so for now, this stuff works great.

Looking great Dan! On that chrome paint, that is what I painted my pipes on my Mack with. It looked great for a few weeks, but then it lost it's shine. The pipes were not handled other than lightly dusting them off with a soft brush. Maybe it was just my luck or maybe a bad can, but it looks like dull aluminum now, which is fine for my pipes, but I though that I would share my experience in hopes of it helping you or someone else to avoid a future problem or maybe getting input from others who have used this paint. Again, Great work!!

Interesting, will have to watch for that. I wonder if shooting them with clear will help? I don't mind the aluminum look anyway, as I can't say that I've seen a newer truck with chrome tanks. Aluminum is a little more realistic looking.

June update is...no update. Although, as per the comments above, I had a look, and my fuel tanks are still shiny chrome. :)

Glad to hear it! I noticed that not all of mine dulled. Maybe, I got a bad can or something.

Brian, I have found that the lightest touch, and even from dusting, will make the Duplicolor Chrome dull. It is what I used on my trailer for my B.R.B.O. build and my custom Ford. The most of the dulling issue for mine is from mock up handling, but even just trying to dust the top of my Ford's trailer with a soft cloth has dulled some of the shine.

Dan, do not, and I repeat, DO NOT clear the Duplicolor Chrome!!! I experimented with clearing some small parts after spraying them with the chrome to try to protect my roof and floor for my projects, and clear instantly turns it to a dull, flat silver.  Since your tanks shouldn't be very visible because they are behind the fairings, you shouldn't have a problem with them keeping their shine as Brian and I have encountered, they shouldn't get very dusty and just take care when mounting them and you should still have bright, shiny tanks. :D If you do get an opportunity to get an airbrush, you'll like it. It has taken me to be in this build off to finally try my little cheapy I've had for years, and I have quickly found I want a better one!  I bought Alclad Polished Aluminum for the floors and roofs of all my trailers and also some Alclad Clear and experimented with it the way I did unsuccessfully with the Duplicolor Chrome, and the Alclad Clear does not dull the Alclad.

Hmmmmm.......I never thought of trying the Alclad Clear over the Duplicolor Chrome until now typing that last statement. I might have to do some more experimenting. :)

Thanks for the warning! I haven`t mounted the tanks yet, but that`s coming soon. To be honest I got tired of working on the frame, engine and whatnot, so started messing with the interior.

Pics soon. :)

Some real nice work going on here. I for one like the unpolished look to the chrome, At least most of the time. I do have a couple of different brands of

Chrome paint. haven't tried them yet though . I may in the future try to obtain some alclad. I think I can get it in Manila.

I've tried sourcing Alclad locally, but there appears to be only one store that I've found who carries it. And they seem to be out every time I go in. I've heard that there is a spray version that doesn't require an airbrush, which I would honestly prefer, but I've spoken with hobby stores in both Edmonton and Calgary, and neither have been able to get it. Something to do with VOC content and Canadian import regulations or something. Apparently they're working on it.

Haven't touched the truck much over the past week or so. Need to get cracking on it before the kiddies are done with school. Oh snap, that's next Tuesday!

Finally got some bench time in over the weekend. Got started on the interior. Consulted the Google machine and a Prostar brochure and came up with what I think is a realistic colour choice. Pics to follow.

Here's a pre-assembly pic to keep things moving along. :)

Been away for a couple of weeks, in an area with almost zero cell coverage or internet access. It's been glorious! I'm back, recharged, and will be cracking this thing out soon enough.

Anyone have any tips for opening the back doors on a Moebius 53ft box trailer? I kind of want them open for the idea I've got. But it's not the end of the world if I don't figure it out.

I've been making decals the past couple of nights. Truck decals are ready. I still need to work out the correct sizing in my brain for the trailer decals. Do I want large to cover the entire side? Or do I want more subtle?

I'm guessing you mean the swing doors???

As for the decals, I think after you get the sizing worked out, (and you didn't mention if it was a pic as a trailer sized mural or just lettering and/or striping) but I'd suggest printing them out on regular paper first and see what they look like. I know the mural I have a pic of for my custom Ford started getting grainy the larger I made it.

Yeah, I had an idea that involved some cargo. I've since looked it over, and my fab skills aren't to the point where I would be happy with the results, so I'm not going to worry about it right now. Unless of course I'm overthinking this one big time. Possibly on the next one.

The image I'm using for decals is really high res. I've printed both big and small versions, and graphics quality is perfect in both cases.

Got the trailer assembled last night. Fitting all of the sides together was a pain. Half of the tabs on the box sides were broken off, so trying to line everything up was interesting. Had to create some extra internal bracing out of old sprues to kind of hold things in place. It's sealed up, so no one will ever see that. Just needs the wheel/suspension assembly mounted and the final detailing, then the trailer is a wrap.

On the cab, the interior is fully assembled now. All that's left to be done is final detailing on the cab, then mounting the completed cab on the chassis.

Almost done! Yay!

it's such a shame the interior is almost invisible once installed, the kit has such a nicely detailed interior.
