Canso65 Posted April 5, 2016 Author Posted April 5, 2016 Thanks guys!! Yes, lots of sanding to get things the way I wanted to Pat. All part of the experience Just a quick update. I have managed to get the cab and the hood painted and mocked up. I'll be polishing out the paint and clear coating it soon so it will shine like a rig just off the assembly line. Thanks for looking. Rob
DRIPTROIT 71 Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 Wow! That's not polished and cleared? That is one slick paint job! What kind of paint are you using if you don't mind my asking? Great work!!
Canso65 Posted April 6, 2016 Author Posted April 6, 2016 Thanks for the nice comments guys.I like to use Tamiya spray cans for large bodies like this Brian. The red I used is TS-85 Bright Mica Red.Rob
cowboy rich Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 That looks great!! I'd be afraid to touch it to polish it.
10thumbs Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 Nice paint Rob. I think red looks real good on this fine truck.
gatorincebu Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 Really nice looking paint job. And a real bright red. Be Well Gator
Canso65 Posted April 28, 2016 Author Posted April 28, 2016 I've been working away at the interior and started doing some decal work on the body. Lots to do yet but still rolling along. I have to repair the decal beside the grill. Dang thing ripped on me. The interior is far from finished but it's coming along. Thanks for looking! Rob
gatorincebu Posted April 28, 2016 Posted April 28, 2016 Rob, Too bad a bout the tear in the decal, but not the end of the world ! Your interior looks great ! What material did you use for the floor mat ? Be Well Gator
DRIPTROIT 71 Posted April 29, 2016 Posted April 29, 2016 Looking great!! If you need another decal, send me a PM.
10thumbs Posted April 29, 2016 Posted April 29, 2016 Looking good Rob. The floor really does look good.
Mopar - D Posted April 29, 2016 Posted April 29, 2016 Rob you have this Diamond RIO coming together nicely.
Canso65 Posted April 30, 2016 Author Posted April 30, 2016 Rob, Too bad a bout the tear in the decal, but not the end of the world ! Your interior looks great ! What material did you use for the floor mat ? Be Well Gator Thanks everyone for your nice comments. Gator, the floor material is a thin sheet of rubber like foam I found at the dollar store. I thought I'd give it a try to see how it looks. I still need to glue it down. Looking at the photos of the dash board I am really not happy with the results. I struggled with the paint I used (Krylon), when I put the second coat on the dash the paint wrinkled on me. I can't understand why the same paint would cause that, especially after letting the first coat dry for a week. I'm going to strip it down and try again. I think I can do better. I guess I went a little overboard on using decal set on the DR decals. The Texaco decals for the doors were a little thick so I was able to get it to sit nicely with the decal set. The DR decals were a little thinner so I probably should have gone without decal set. The lessons we learn. Brian, I may take you up on the offer. I just don't want you to have to pay for mailing. I'll send you a PM. Thanks again everyone. This build has been so much fun I think I am hooked on trucks now.
Canso65 Posted May 27, 2016 Author Posted May 27, 2016 Hi there guysJust thought I should check in and say hi. Been on the road for work quite a bit the last few weeks and have not had much bench time. I did get a little done, replaced the DR decals on the hood (thanks very much Brian!) and repainted the dashboard. I will get some pics posted soon.Rob
Canso65 Posted May 31, 2016 Author Posted May 31, 2016 I can't believe we are already at the end of May! Not a lot done this month, more or less just fixing my own mistakes. Thanks again Brian for the Diamond Reo decals. They do look very nice. I hope I can return the favour one day. Rob
