Those are both great looking Diamond Reos Terry. Hard to even notice the angle on those beauties.

Thanks for the website information Jacobus. I spent a little time going through it this afternoon.

Yeah, the doors are cut out and work is well under way Michael. I've spent a good part of my weekend on the inner door panels trying to get them to look something like the picture I posted above. I think I am almost there.

Thanks everyone for having a look.

Rob,

You're doing a fine job on this build. What I enjoy doing as much as building is the research for a project:)

Nice work man! FYI, there are some mold seams on this cab that shouldnt be confused with 1:1 factory seems. One of them is right at the top sides of the windshield between the winshield and the door trim. The others are vertical seems right in the curves at the back of the cab. The vertical seems to each side of the rear window are factory, the others are AMT. I hope this helps. It makes for a much more realistic model with these gone. Also, the angled cut on each side of the cowl at the bottom, should be filled in. This is a removable piece for the Autocar kit, but none of the others that uses this cab.

the filler panel should stay.its there for set back axle or short hood applications.its cheaper tor the manufactures to add a filler panel than make 2 different floor pans or what ever

Well then they apparently made them both ways. There are definitely examples of them with and without now that I look. Ive only seen them without.

Thanks guys for the tips on the filler panel along with the nice comments.

I haven't had much time to work on my truck for the last week or so but when I have had a little time I have been working on the interior. I have almost completed the interior panels for the doors along with the door hinges. I'll post some pics as soon as I get a chance.

Happy modelling everyone!

Sorry for the lack of updates.

It's been a busy time for me lately along with another build on the go.

I ordered the paint I need for the cab and trailer frame. Waiting for that to come in.

Everyone has been making some great progress with the BRBO.

Not as much work completed this weekend as I had hoped but I guess a little is still OK.

The paint I ordered came in so I got the fuel tanks painted and the straps foiled.

Finished up the detailing on the mud flaps and got them mounted.

I sure am glad we have until October to finish.

Thanks Rick, I really appreciate it.

Another weekend comes and goes. :(

Working away on the truck I have run into a bit of a rookie snag. Where on the frame does the 5th wheel slider plate attach?

The instructions are very unclear and researching on the net has yielded nothing.

Hey Rob, looking really good so far. Really like the way this is going.

Typically, the rear of the plate would be positioned so that the fifth wheel, in the rear most position, would be just slightly behind the midpoint between the rear axles. When in the forward most position, it would be almost directly over the front drive axle. Hope this helps.

Thanks Mark.

I think I now have the fifth wheel in the proper location. I didn't glue it to the plate so I can adjust that later once I get into the tanker trailer.

So I've been sanding and test fitting everything about the cab. I now have the base of the interior mocked up and sitting the nice and flat. Of course with the warp in the cab and with cutting out the doors it took a little bit of work to get everything lined up.

Here is a shot from the front end. It's starting to look like a DR now.

I got the doors lined up and hinged. I may have used hinges which are a little to big for model trucks. They were the smallest thing I could find locally so I hope they look OK.

This next shot is of the floor inside the truck. I managed to get the engine tunnel in place along with the firewall. the kit parts for these took a bit to get them lined up properly. Adding strips of evergreen plastic, sanding (repeat 101 times) and I am almost there.

The hinges won't be noticed once I build the door jams and add the interior door panels I have already created.

It's nice to be back at the bench muddling my way through this build. Don't get me wrong, I am loving every moment of this build.

Thanks for looking everyone!
