aurfalien Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 Hi,Please excuse me if it's been talked about, but has any one dealt with this company as of late?I did read some posts on late fullfillment of orders etc...I'd love to order a particluar item from them, a grail of sorts.Any feedback on latest dealings would be appreciated.
mikemodeler Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 I don't think much has changed over the years with Perry's and their poor service. That said, a forum member here, NIck Winter, seems to be able to make contact with them and he is probably the best one to discuss it with via PM. I have wanted some stuff from them but a couple of horror stories is all I need to know to stay away.
aurfalien Posted January 17, 2016 Author Posted January 17, 2016 Thanks man. I was thinking about calling Perry's on Monday. A phone call is best to see what's up. Since Ontario/Canada is 3 hours ahead of PST, I'll be able to call at a proper hour. Mebbe I'll mention that I've some big cousins in the area Ontario is full of Serbs.
Rob Hall Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 Their website seems to be have last been updated in 2008 (based on the note linked from the home page), so who knows if they are still in business....I bought several items from them with no problem, but that was about a dozen years ago...

I noticed that too. Plus the site has some outdated Java script, prolly should switch to HTML5 as Java code has been rendered useless by browser security updates. However his site is fast, simple and effective. If anything I would update Java/Flash to HTML5, enhance with some SEO fromage and that's about it. Perhaps install a PayPal merchant gateway to make it real easy for customers to spend money But I never updated my site as I still got biz. Sure uploading an updated footer is trivial but I sorta loathe mantaning my site, perhaps he feels that same. Hope he answers the phone. Edited January 17, 2016 by aurfalien
Sport Suburban Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 I have not purchased anything from them in quite a few years. When I was buying it was fast and the stuff was nice. When I heard he bought a hobby shop and his resin business was suffering I have not bought anything since or heard anything good since then.If this is any indicator of the demand for his stuff. When it does show up on eBay it sells for way more than he was asking. I recently watched a 68 GS 400 sell for almost $300!
aurfalien Posted January 17, 2016 Author Posted January 17, 2016 (edited) That makes me very sad as I'm after my HOLY GRAIL kit that he has. Edited January 17, 2016 by aurfalien
aurfalien Posted January 18, 2016 Author Posted January 18, 2016 (edited) Darn! His hobby shop in Canada is closed on Mondays.Oh well, looking forward in calling tomorrow, hope he can sell me, what is 1 of 2 holy grail kits. The other was breifly done by Fein Design which is no longer remotey available unless one could time travel backwards.I think I got back into this hobby a wee bit too late seeing that I love older road racers etc... kitbash1 Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 I see Randy at least twice a month. He has told me on more than a few occasions, that he is scaling down his casting business and concentrating on his hobby shop.He will still cast stuff, but not as much as he use to. I've been after him to cast up some of Trans-Am tires and Minilites for a project that I'm working on. I've been after him for almost a year now, So I'm making my own masters and casting my own. My advice would be tread carefully when it comes to dealing with Parry's.
aurfalien Posted January 20, 2016 Author Posted January 20, 2016 (edited) Thanks for the feed back.I got off the phone with him earlier today, a very cool and nice man for sure.He and I love the same cars, Ferrari 350 and 333SP. I'm very sad that I can't get a hold of his 333SP now but who knows what the future will bring. At any rate for those living near by, I'd for sure recommend a visit as his shop sounds comprehensive for sure. Seems to me if he isn't going to cast parts, then take down the website.

They begrudgingly give control to the customer in fear of messing up there work etc...So the customer, trusting there IT guy to do the right thing go on to other things.Setting up proper tech is hard, managing it properly is even harder. And properly communicating it is even harder. Edited January 20, 2016 by aurfalien
Jimmy Wilson Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 (edited) I ordered a body from him and it took well over a year and a half to receive it. After months of calls, "it was shipped" at least three times I had pretty much given up, and then it just showed up. There was an extra dragster body and some slicks I hadn't ordered included. I love the body, but I just wouldn't order anything else, as it was far too an aggravating experience. He was always pleasant, and apologetic and finally delivered. I just can not endorse doing any more business with him.Jimmy Edited January 21, 2016 by Jimmy Wilson

Unbuilt, will have to put them in the wife's china/crystal cabinet now!!!Wow, what a deal you got!!!I've given up on him after several un answered emails and I don't feel like calling him again.I found a few posts back when he was in production about how difficult it was to get a kit after being paid for. I can only imagine what it would be like now several years after he ceased full production. Some business owners simply have no morals or respect for there customers.
High octane Posted July 9, 2016 Posted July 9, 2016 While I've never ordered anything from Perry's Resin, I have bought his stuff from another vendor at Toledo several years back. From what I'm hearing, it seems like Perry's is going by way of Reliable Resin, and I myself would definitely not order anything from him. As far as I know, there are NO resin casters out there that offer anything that I cannot live without.
aurfalien Posted July 9, 2016 Author Posted July 9, 2016 From what I'm hearing, it seems like Perry's is going by way of Reliable ResinWait, so Perry's is now Reliable Resin?Oh the irony!
Sport Suburban Posted July 10, 2016 Posted July 10, 2016 Not exactly, two different resin casters with similar stories. Both with good products and were fast shippers. Aft establishing a good reputation. Things started to fall behind and orders got slower and slower to appear. Stories started about why they are behind or lost shipments. Now we know not to buy as you will either have to wait years if you even get your stuff.
rickcaps55 Posted July 10, 2016 Posted July 10, 2016 Hi I want to add one thing to this I have got a lot of items from Perry's a few years ago and it was all very good quality I was happy with all of it it's to bad he let the site good bad that being said I just for the hell of it checked back with the site last year and you guys are right it has not been updated the last date is 2008 but be very careful if you do go to the site it has been hacked when I hit on a couple of photos my McAfee lit up like a Christmas tree.
aurfalien Posted July 10, 2016 Author Posted July 10, 2016 Ah good to know about the Realiabe Resin. I was eyeing the Ford GTX-1 body which looks pretty darn sweet. But now now.Hope some one else carries it.
