Griff Posted January 31, 2016 Posted January 31, 2016 Finally finished this build, took me longer than expected and its far from perfect, but I'm satisfied. I love how the color came out, I ordered a spray can of touch up paint for the real ZR-1 called Jetstream Blue Metallic Tintcoat from automotive touchup.com. I also used their gloss clear coat and loved both of them. The rest of the painting is airbrushed Tamiya acrylics. The only thing I did not box stock was the carbon fiber roof and carbon fiber inside of the hood, ordered the decal from scale motorsports and it was worth every penny. Got the roof done in one shot, the hood took two tries and its still just ok.
louie Posted January 31, 2016 Posted January 31, 2016 One of my favorite subjects is the ZR-1. Anytime I see one mentioned I stop and look and yours looks great. What a good looking sleek car it is. Thank you for sharing this with us. Jeff
lghtngyello03 Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 (edited) Awesome build, and paint! This is a build that is on my list as well. Would love to do the same color. Did you prime it before paint? I tried some paint before through automotive touchup and it reacted with Tamiya primer for some reason. Cracked it like crazy. Was the body airbrush as well? If so did you order the paint in a spray aerosol can and then decant to airbrush? Edited February 1, 2016 by lghtngyello03

Weird that you had problems, I used the Tamiya spray can primer with excellent results along with the automotive touchup spray can and spray gloss clear coat, I did not decant any of them, straight from the can. The only airbrushing was the black window trim and the interior parts. Now that I think of it, I only used some car wax to bring out the shine, no polishing or wet sanding either
da_ashman Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 Great work! Looks amazing in that colour!!!
