YBlock292 Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 I startet off with the body which received several layers of "pure red" and "metallic red" (Tamiya) with a clear coat, rubbed out with "Meguiars" to get close to the original "Coronado red poly" which was available in 1961:
YBlock292 Posted February 8, 2016 Author Posted February 8, 2016 That's the 389 cui V-8 with the tri carb set up (work on the engine is in progress). I added a dip stick:
blunc Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 nice work so far, like the red a lot.too bad moebius decided to draw the pontiac engine from memory rather than cast it to look closer to the real thing.
Roadrunner Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 I wasn't particularly sold on this kit initially, but yours looks so good that I may have to grab one.
kelson Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 looks real good so far, what color paint did you use to paint the engine?
espo Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 This is one of my personal 1:1 favorites and the next one to build. I like your color choice and your paint finish looks good as is. What colors are you using for the interior ? The engine looks fairly accurate but I question the general shape of the kit's valve covers. The creases on the top of the valve covers I remember were shaped a little differently, but they were the standard 389 cu. in. and that could be the difference.
YBlock292 Posted February 9, 2016 Author Posted February 9, 2016 I used a "home made" mixture of Testors white and blue for the engine. The interior will be painted according to the original color scheme matching the red exterior (red/white).
YBlock292 Posted February 22, 2016 Author Posted February 22, 2016 Update Feb 22: Now the V8 is already in the engine bay and wired so far. Also the eight lug wheels, consisting of five parts each, have been detailed and put together. WW-rings by Moebius ...
