Badluck 13 Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 Wow what a huge save on the paint !! I love the Old School paint scheme...
Petetrucker07 Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 Great save Sean. Your color scheme and colors remind of a company, long gone, out here. It was called Guthmiller Trucking Inc. I may have to Google it and see if I can find a pic or 2.
Superpeterbilt Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 Nice fix. That paint job looks great.
doogie7046 Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 Great save on the paint. Its always good to try a new masking tape. Sometimes it will be your new favourite and other times it will just be something to avoid.
Tesla Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 What's all this talk about a botched paint job Looks terrific Sean!
guitarsam326 Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 Very nice save indeed! I would have started over lol!
purepmd Posted February 28, 2016 Posted February 28, 2016 What a great save, Sean, as well as a great build. I Really like the color choice. This is going to be sweet.
Old Buckaroo Posted February 29, 2016 Author Posted February 29, 2016 Very nice save indeed! I would have started over lol! Thank you everyone for the great comments. Sam this is why I showed this minor setback. I did not want to strip the paint due to not wanting to paint that awful interior color again. Also to maybe help others not to be discouraged over similar issues. Ok , I am having a tough time trying to think of how to paint the Dayton rear wheels. Black just does not work well as they are to small and shadowy so you loose the details. Yellow (cab color) spokes and wheel with a silver trim ring ? A gunmetal color for spokes and wheel ? any suggestions will be appreciated. The fronts will be painted white. Thanks for looking in
mistermodel Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 (edited) Front hubs chassis colour and for the rearI'd go white spokes and rims myself with a grey spacer ring because the front rim is white.A little detail work on the bolts and lugs ,good to go.Seeing the chassis is blackk .black spokes would also work well, again a little detailing goes a long way Edited February 29, 2016 by mistermodel added some thing
DRIPTROIT 71 Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 Just my two cents, but I would paint the spokes and center hubs yellow with white rims and silver wedges. But what ever you choose will look great.Looking great so far.
Superpeterbilt Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 Just my two cents, but I would paint the spokes and center hubs yellow with white rims and silver wedges. But what ever you choose will look great.Looking great so far.I was going to say the same thing. I think yellow and white is the best combo. I would paint the front hubs yellow as well.
lapazleo Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 I was going to say the same thing. I think yellow and white is the best combo. I would paint the front hubs yellow as well. Ditto
SpreadAxle Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 I would say white spokes and grey(Model Master Neutral grey might be a good choice) or white for the rims/spacer rings.
Travis T Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 Just my two cents, but I would paint the spokes and center hubs yellow with white rims and silver wedges. But what ever you choose will look great.Looking great so far.I agree with this as well.
k100 Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 Sean I would have to agree with yellow spokes and white rings.
Old Buckaroo Posted February 29, 2016 Author Posted February 29, 2016 Sean I would have to agree with yellow spokes and white rings. Thank you for the input, sounds like you cant go wrong with that combo. Kevin - those are two really nice coe's , I will try your combo on my next one! Dennis - I have always liked that DR.
GearUpJammer Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 Looks great!I also think yellow spokes and white rings.
redneckrigger Posted March 2, 2016 Posted March 2, 2016 When I was painting the trucks in the fleet of the company I worked for, the spyders got painted white and the rims were gray. Looked clean and sharp and matched the red color of all of the trucks.
