Here are the before and after pics of the upgrade, I'm very happy with the outcome, its almost a little to nice for a hobby bench but I got it cheap at IKEA. I will eventually build some nice paint shelves for the wall, but even with the paint on the table i have plenty of space.

the desk light you have on the desk does it give alot of light looking into getting a good light for my hobby table.

I also bought that on amazon, its made by taotronics, i think it was like $30 US or so, led lights and built in usb charger, worth every penny to me, note that i also have a ceiling light on in that pic

Looks good. And I agree, almost too nice for a workbench that's more than likely to get all splashed up with paint and stuff.

Thanks, The right side of the desk will be covered in masking paper while airbrushing and hand painting to keep it "mostly" clean

The desk looks super nice. Do you have a Bed, Bath & Beyond store near you ? The reason is I found many inexpensive items that might help. They have a fairly heavy cutting mat with rubber skids on the outside so it does not slide around and a little gutter like edge to catch any rolling pieces. The original idea was to use it like a cutting board in the kitchen. Another item is actually a spice rack that has three levels on it and can extend to about 20 in. Each shelf is two Tamiya bottles deep and the next shelf behind it is level with the bottle caps on the lower shelf. This gives you about 18 bottles on each shelf times three shelves hold a lot of paint. They have many items that you can get cheap and I'll bet your wife has one of their 20% off coupons.

Thanks for the tips, I was thinking of the spice rack for the paint, bed bath and beyond is 15 minutes from me, I want to add some storage underneath so I may check them out.

Good idea. For all the years that I worked in engineering offices, I always snatched the thin cardboard from packages of blue-line paper; they were almost the exact same size as the work area on my bench.

Added a DIY Spray booth today, the usual plastic tote with a bathroom exhaust fan attached. I added a second tote with the back cut out and a filter. Its vented through the door knob of the the door to my bulk head (I'm in the basement) with some flexible  duct and some pvc tube, worked out great, I'm very happy with it.
