Griff Posted February 22, 2016 Posted February 22, 2016 Just got a start on this build. Primed it with Vallejo acrylic surface primer then used Tamiya X-14 sky blue, off to good start and I'm loving this color.
Griff Posted February 22, 2016 Author Posted February 22, 2016 Very nice. Did you use spray cans? Benno, only for a spray stand, lol. both the primer and finish were airbrushed, still have to polish the paint with some compound
Bennyg Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 no, only for a spray stand, lol. both the primer and finish were airbrushed, still have to polish the paint with some compound cheers. Ben
o-man Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 I'm looking forward to this. I have similar color plans for the one I have
Griff Posted February 24, 2016 Author Posted February 24, 2016 Thank you all, the funny thing is the car I saw that inspired this color choice has yellow interior, I don't think I can bring myself to do a yellow interior, buts its still interesting. Maybe white or black or some sort of cream color will work.....
GTJUNIOR Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 Cream or light tan will look good for the interior.
Griff Posted March 29, 2016 Author Posted March 29, 2016 quick update, clear coat is going on the body soon, suspension and exhaust done. This is my first time using the Tamiya weathering kit on the exhaust and I am very happy with the results
GMCMAN52 Posted March 29, 2016 Posted March 29, 2016 Like the look so far will be watching this build
Canso65 Posted March 30, 2016 Posted March 30, 2016 I really like what you have done with this so far Matt.I'll be following along with this build.Rob
Twokidsnosleep Posted March 30, 2016 Posted March 30, 2016 Awesome progress, that exhaust IS something to be proud of.......what did you use exactly???
Griff Posted March 30, 2016 Author Posted March 30, 2016 (edited) Awesome progress, that exhaust IS something to be proud of.......what did you use exactly??? Thanks! First I painted the exhaust using Tamiya X-31 Titanium Gold then I used the tamiya weathering kit. First coat i used the "burnt red" on the spots I wanted stained, then came back and used the "burnt blue" right on top of the red for the desired effect. Edited March 30, 2016 by Griff
Twokidsnosleep Posted March 30, 2016 Posted March 30, 2016 (edited) Thanks, adding that to my list of stuff to get I tried clear Tamiya's clear yellow and clear blue...nice green came out Edited March 30, 2016 by Twokidsnosleep
Griff Posted March 30, 2016 Author Posted March 30, 2016 Decided to test the interior color, once I sprayed one seat I filled up the cup and continued the rest of the interior, I think the color is perfect, also got a nice 4 coats of Tamiya X-22 clear on the body, fingers crossed it will polish out nice.
dreamgarage Posted March 31, 2016 Posted March 31, 2016 Loving this color combo and the kit as a whole. It was a little too expensive for my liking so I'll be living vicariously through your build.
iamsuperdan Posted March 31, 2016 Posted March 31, 2016 Love what you're doing here. Colour choices are perfect, and that exhaust weathering is excellent.
GTJUNIOR Posted March 31, 2016 Posted March 31, 2016 That interior colour is nicely understated and looks really classy, very Aston Martin.
