SfanGoch Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 The appreciation of art is subjective, and building cars, big ones or little ones, qualifies as "art". Artie the Seal sez
Greg Myers Posted February 24, 2016 Author Posted February 24, 2016 (edited) Hey Greg, Got any Shots of the SR 71 Taking Off !?No, just fond memories. I did get up that way to watch the show. I was down at Naha NAF, '70-'74, P-3's, A-4's, A-6's F-4's, F-8's , P-2's, S-2's and USAF C-130's, now there's a short take off show. Edited February 24, 2016 by Greg Myers

Before moving out here we were in the Flight path of Moffett Field. P-3's a plenty and the NASA U-2 on a regular basis. Now days it's A-10's playing follow the leader and C-130's doing low elevation Mountain Practice down Cochise Stronghold a couplea miles from our back "yard".
Greg Myers Posted February 27, 2016 Author Posted February 27, 2016 (edited) Sounds like a visit to Mom's house in Tucson. I remember moving there it 1961. The lady selling the house was adamant, "those planes out there don't fly." Edited February 27, 2016 by Greg Myers

Ace-Garageguy Posted February 27, 2016 Posted February 27, 2016 (edited) Surprising they piled 'em up to scrap like that. A lot of F100s and F4 Phantoms ended their careers as target drones.Weren't those 84s J-65 powered? Maybe the engines were pulled for A4 spares. Edited February 27, 2016 by Ace-Garageguy
Ace-Garageguy Posted February 27, 2016 Posted February 27, 2016 Your tax dollars at work. Cool. Tens of millions of dollars worth of warplanes turned into thousands of dollars of aluminum scrap. Swords into plowshares, fighters into beer cans.
madhorseman Posted February 27, 2016 Posted February 27, 2016 I'd be afraid of something like this happening
High octane Posted February 27, 2016 Posted February 27, 2016 WOW, I hope that I don't have the wrong dashboard in my car???
SfanGoch Posted February 27, 2016 Posted February 27, 2016 WOW, I hope that I don't have the wrong dashboard in my car???Does yours have an altimeter and attitude indicator? They're available as optional equipment on some models.
High octane Posted February 27, 2016 Posted February 27, 2016 There was an attitude indicator in my mom's car, as I was teed off and slammed my fist into the horn ring and broke it. she wasn't happy 'bout that.
Belugawrx Posted February 27, 2016 Posted February 27, 2016 (edited) My '88 Dodge Raider (Mitsubishi) 4X4, had an attitude indicator on top of the dash,...I would climb steep side hills just to get it to move once in a while It also had an oil pressure gauge that my ex never bothered to look at........... That's it, up top. middle No that is not me Edited February 27, 2016 by Belugawrx
Ace-Garageguy Posted February 27, 2016 Posted February 27, 2016 (edited) OK, maybe that one could use an altimeter. Edited February 27, 2016 by Ace-Garageguy
Greg Myers Posted February 28, 2016 Author Posted February 28, 2016 (edited) One of the first rides in my '69 Charger, my young son, an ardent "Dukes" fan was scoping out the dash. "What are you looking for son?" "Which one of those buttons makes it pop a wheelie?" Edited February 28, 2016 by Greg Myers
unclescott58 Posted February 28, 2016 Posted February 28, 2016 The '69 Charger dash you show above Greg, is still one of the great instrument panel designs ever. Except for the tach. What was the point of putting a huge clock right on top of the tach? You might as well move the tach down to the console, were several other cars had it. Either setup works just as well. In other words, not well at all.
