robiwon Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 Just finished the new Fujimi version of James Bond's Lotus Esprit sub. It's an excellent kit. Only downside is there is no base included. For me, I used the base from my Bandai Millennium Falcon kit. Covered in model railroad sand, painted with a plaster rock added it went from a desert to the bottom of the ocean look! A street version was just released last week. I have one in the mail and should get it in a few weeks from HLJ.
robiwon Posted February 24, 2016 Author Posted February 24, 2016 Oh, and look what just came today! It only shipped last Saturday! It made it from Japan to KY in 4 days!!!!!
drsnapper55 Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 Outstanding! Just watched this last night too
Dann Tier Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 VERY COOL!! Well done, too!! Thanks for sharing, I was wondering about this kit.

I've gotten things from NY that took 2 weeks to get to me in Michigan, and like you, ordered from Japan and received it in 4 days as well.

Crazy Ed Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 Robert, Good Job on adapting that Base. That Sub and it look like they were made for each other. And the Street Kit'll make a Great Shelf Mate for 'em.
djflyer Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 Love the sub and great job on the base too! Kinda guessing the Fujimi is a re-pop of the Nichimo kit given its molded in white and a curbside. Hopefully Fujimi put in some better tires.
om617 Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 Would look really cool on the shelf, great job.

robiwon Posted February 25, 2016 Author Posted February 25, 2016 I did an unboxing with all the sprues laid out on some FB model car groups last night. I'll post those pics up here after work today. This is definitely not a repop of the Nichimo kit. This is an all new tool from Fujimi. The Nichimo was motorized and had an opening rear hatch. This has a much better detailed curbside chassis with separate, and nice looking, suspension parts and separate chrome exhaust. I'll do an unboxing thread separate from this one tonight. Bottom line, don't bother chasing down the Nichimo anymore unless you just want a nostalgia kit and paying $75 and up for it. This kit is far superior and was only a total of $38 shipped (!) from Japan.
Dragline Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 That is a superb build. Looks like I'm off to get this before it sells through.
robiwon Posted February 25, 2016 Author Posted February 25, 2016 (edited) Thanks for all the comments. It was a fun build and cant wait to dig into the street version.I would grab this soon if you guys want one. I see the prices on ebay are shooting up. Some are over $60! I got mine from HLJ for about half that price! Edited February 25, 2016 by robiwon
Scalper Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 Nice build. I can't wait to see what's in the lotus kit.
aurfalien Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 This makes a very very cool professional display piece for sure. Oddly enough I just watched the film last week since it first came out.

Speedfreak Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 Very nice build Robert, thanks for sharing.
robiwon Posted February 26, 2016 Author Posted February 26, 2016 It was a '76 and had a 4 cylinder. The V8 did not come out until 1996 in the redesigned Peter Stevens bodywork.
