Ramfins59 Posted March 12, 2016 Posted March 12, 2016 I've had an idea bouncing around in my head for many years to do a NASCAR model but just a bit different. I pictured one with only model car manufacturer and model car aftermarket company sponsor Logos. When the NNL East guys handed out their 30th Anniversary decal sheets at last years show, I knew I had to finally do it. I'm using the Moebius '56 Chrysler 300B kit and I painted the body Tamiya Pure White. The window trim and front & rear emblems were BMF'd. I cut out various Logos from model magazines and glued them to a sheet of blank paper. That sheet was then scanned into my computer and printed on blank decal paper from my LHS. I sprayed the decal sheet with Duplicolor clearcoat so the printer ink wouldn't run when I put the decals in water. My friend Tom also resized some of the Logos to a smaller size to be used in a grouping behind the front wheels. It took me about 8 hours to cut out and apply all of the individual Logo decals and the NNL East anniversary decals neatly to the body. Now I know why I never wanted to build any NASCAR models...... too many decals..!!! Here's how the body looks at the moment. I still have to build the rest of the car. I glued the hood shut so this will be a Curbside car. I'll use the Hemi engine on some future project. Hopefully I'll get it done in time for the NNL East show's Theme Class. Any and all comments are welcomed and appreciated...
花火 Posted March 12, 2016 Posted March 12, 2016 that was a really genius and sweet idea Richard! But why some decals look like faded??
Ramfins59 Posted March 12, 2016 Author Posted March 12, 2016 Thanks guys. Nie, that's just the way that the decals came out from my HP ink jet printer... at least you can read them. The really small resized ones are very hard to read, but you can tell who's Logos they are.
Ramfins59 Posted March 12, 2016 Author Posted March 12, 2016 Thanks again fellas. Mitch, I've never been into race cars of any type, and after the length of time it took just to do the decals on this, I think I'll pass on doing anymore. This was just a crazy idea I've had brewing for many years.
Ramfins59 Posted March 13, 2016 Author Posted March 13, 2016 Thanks very much everyone. I'm glad you all liked it.
1930fordpickup Posted March 13, 2016 Posted March 13, 2016 Richard this is one of the best ideas I have seen in years. Fantastic way to show respect to the people that make us products.
Dirkpitt289 Posted March 14, 2016 Posted March 14, 2016 I guess we'll be seeing this car first hand in April?
Ramfins59 Posted March 14, 2016 Author Posted March 14, 2016 Thank you guys. Yes Dirk, barring any unforeseen circumstances, this car will be put in the NNL East Theme Class on April 16th.
Bill Eh? Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 Rich,to see your model first hand at the NNL, will make my trip from Toronto worthwhile.
