With the release of Revell's new 2017 Ford GT, I think we should have a Community build based on this car. There are a lot of people that like this car and there's been a lot of different liveries. Here's a link with some of the '60's retro liveries on the new GT.

What do you think?

Neat idea David! The illustrations are drop dead gorgeous, especially effective are the side stripes to differentiate the Mk II and Mk IV liveries. The Gulf colours look great too, yet over the years they have appeared on a range of vehicles and have become somewhat passé. I would add the original Series 1 scheme with white body and blue nose.

Being a new kit and a snap kit it would be enticing to give it a go, as most of the effort would go into the paint schemes while allowing for an easy and quick build. Haven't seen the kit itself yet on the shelves, though believe it's molded in a dark blue? Saw the 1:1 white version on a turntable at Barrett Jackson this year, it is a stunner!

Great idea for a community build, hope there is enough interest.

Yeah, you could use any GT40 livery, or any livery for that matter. I just put a link in there cause I thought the '66-67 Le Mans ones were great. I've got two GT's coming and I'm doing a race livery on one, that isn't a "GT40" livery. I also think the Alan Mann Racing one looks awesome.

Thanks for the interest, I hope more like it too. It would be interesting to see what people can come up with.

I'd be interested myself, depending on when it'd happen and how long we'd have, as I have quite a few builds right now that I'd like to knock out in the next 6 months.

I wouldn't put any guild lines on it, other than build a new Ford GT. Colour, livery, extras, whatever you want. Take as long as you want. Just thought it would an idea to put them all in one place. Do a build thread in the Workbench if you like. But then post some WIP or just Completed picks in the Community Thread so others can see them more easily.

So lets say, from now, till the end of the year, you got 9 months Gergo, git'r done!!

Haha. Thanks for clarifying David. That sounds like a doable time frame now :D

I'm on board as well! Need to find the kit though, gonna check out Hobby Depot in Tempe. Was at the Hobby Bench last week and there was no sign of them. Imagine it'll be quite awhile before Hobby Lobby or Michael's get them in (just as well as I'd sooner support the local hobby shops).

I'm interested. There are some mods I've been thinking of since I first saw the real ones. If I build a curbside, I just might be able to get it done in 9 months. :D

They're curbside kits, the engine detail is molded into the interior bucket.

I know a lot of you prefer your local mom and pop hobby shops...but Tower Hobbies has it for $11.95 plus shipping (in stock)...I'm ordering one today.

*disclaimer: I do not have any affiliation with tower hobbies, just a good price I figured I'd share*
