Greg Myers Posted March 29, 2016 Posted March 29, 2016 Tell me it ain't true. http://autoweek.com/article/nascar/case-smokey-yunick?utm_source=RacingWeekend20160327&utm_medium=enewsletter&utm_term=image-top&utm_content=body&utm_campaign=awracingweekend
Dave Van Posted March 29, 2016 Posted March 29, 2016 I'll not get into the debate about who should be in already or who shouldn't. Fact is the NASCAR HoF is 99% of the time a ghost town as far as attendee wise. And I hate to tell you but 99% of the folks at the track today could not tell you anything about Smokey. So NASCAR feels the need to get folks into the HoF that SOME fans MAY know.....which means folks of the 1990's to today. After years spent in the NASCAR biz and always at the track I attend one race a year now.....Fall Martinsville. And when you talk to others that PAY for a seat and go to the track......some claim to be fans forever.......you know....since 1998......WAY BACK in the old days. I was in the biz almost 20 years in 1998....and current fans consider that 'The Old Days'???.......See the issue????
Lizard Racing Posted March 29, 2016 Posted March 29, 2016 I could understand NASCAR not inducting Smokey because he repeatedly ridiculed the rules by skirting them. "If you don't get caught, it ain't cheating."But it took engineering genius to so creatively circumvent the rules.

Even enthusiasts whom weren't necesaarily Chevrolet fans were fans of the late , great "Smokey" ! A brilliant mind , indeed .Sounds to me like the N.A.S.C.A.R. Hall of Fame is of the same sensibility as the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame : total schlock-fest ! Edited March 29, 2016 by 1972coronet

Daddyfink Posted March 30, 2016 Posted March 30, 2016 NHRA did the same to Garlits and anything Mopar for a long time. Mopar was unstopable and Garlits challenged and ridiculed Wally Parks for his views and rules about drag racing, including the Fuel Ban. Smokey deserves better and NASCAR is a joke.
slusher Posted March 30, 2016 Posted March 30, 2016 Smokey deserves to be there, creative genius. I think so
