I can upload an image from my desktop okay (see Larry below) but when I try to use a hosted image I click "Insert other media" then I "Insert image from URL" but I just get a never-ending looping arrow but never an image. I am using Google Chrome.

Any suggestions?

On Photobucket, you click the three stripes on the top left corner of your thumnails, then click Share. A miniwindow will pop up with four options. You want the one that says IMG. Click on that and it should say COPIED. If it doesn't, copy it manually. Then come paste it in here. Takes maybe four seconds, depending on how fast PB is running.

Works great. Thanks!

Douglas B-26 Invader.

Yes, my Dad's in Korea. (The pic was just on the first page of my Photobucket.)

And thanks for calling it a B-26, not A-26. Although built as A-26, between 1947 and 1966 the Douglas Invader was officially the USAF's B-26 (after the Martin B-26 Marauder went out of service). The USAF was out of the A-for-Attack designation bidness until they starting using some ex-USN A-1 Skyraiders in 1964. After the rebuilt On Mark B-26K Counter Invader was adopted, the designation was changed back to A-26A in 1966 so we could state that "we have no bomber aircraft based in Thailand" (which is where they were based). (Nobody seemed to notice or care that Thailand-based F-4s and F-105s were running strategic bombing missions again NVN the whole time, as these were "just fighter" aircraft.)

Now what if the photo isn't in YOUR photobucket? :o

If you post photos from anywhere other than your PB account, you have no control over them staying or disappearing. For example, if you post a photo you found on another website, and that website removes the photo from their site, it also disappears from here. Or if you post a photo from someone else's photo hosting site, and that person moves or deletes that photo, it will disappear from here, too.

Understood. The question was , " How to post from other than YOUR Photobucket."? Perhaps saving time and effort and loading YOUR computer with photos you have little or no interest other than to make a post more interesting or understandable in a thread.

Second point, I have pictures mysteriously disappear from my threads / posts that were posted using the above prescribed method from my Photobucket. Posted properly, they do appear, (for awhile) only to disappear later.

Personally, every photo I've ever posted here was first saved to my PB album(s), then the URL link to the photo was posted here. It's the only way I've ever done it, and since 2006 every single photo I've ever posted here is still here.

I would be willing to pay to use the forum if it meant I could by-pass PhotoBucket and just post pics directly from my computer................

You are in a very small minority. Most people want the free stuff.

I've had a few go MIA, but I believe it happened during the period P-bucket apparently hired some IT chimps to implement "upgrades" on the site, and some data got shuffled into a PB black hole.

Every now and then, I'll look at a very old thread of mine, and I'll find a missing image that was posted originally from my own PB account.
