Xingu Posted April 15, 2016 Posted April 15, 2016 Just wanted to say hello. I built my last model car when I was a teenager (a very long time ago). Just getting back into the hobby. I feel that I finally have enough patience to properly paint and build kits. Time will tell I guess. I am currently setting up a dedicated workbench in the basement. I am sure to have plenty of questions as time goes on and this will undoubtedly allow me to meet other like minded folks. One of my other hobbies is photography, so figured I would post a photo of mine (let's me test linking photos on this board).
Foxer Posted April 15, 2016 Posted April 15, 2016 Welcome to the forum. Good job getting that bugger to sit still for the shot! We won't have to worry about blurry shots from you I can see!
Xingu Posted April 15, 2016 Author Posted April 15, 2016 Thanks for the welcome. It will be a nice change of pace to photograph stationary subjects.
Chuckyg1 Posted April 19, 2016 Posted April 19, 2016 Welcome to the fun house. Nice pic, is that a Porchse spider?
Xingu Posted April 19, 2016 Author Posted April 19, 2016 Thanks again for the welcome. This board is very addictive, there are so many nice builds to look at. I wish I had a Porsche Spyder in my backyard
Rider Posted April 20, 2016 Posted April 20, 2016 You are never too old to start building again. Things have really advanced since we were kids assembling a bunch of plastic parts. Hope to see some of your work soon Michael.
Xingu Posted April 20, 2016 Author Posted April 20, 2016 My plan is to just build a kit straight out of the box and slowly add different skill as time goes on. I want to learn how to airbrush correctly, so I know there will be a learning curve. No need to rush things. I am already realizing kits don't go together perfectly. Some of the parts need to be coaxed into the right position. I am sure I will post up my horrible first build when it is done.
Timok1 Posted April 21, 2016 Posted April 21, 2016 Welcome, Michael. I need to brush up on my photo skills. Likely my main problem is the camera, Polaroid I 631. It has macro however I can't seem to any detail without bad flash shadows or glare. Best without flash then no details. Lighting , bad camera, my skills all may be in play. Later Tim
