stavanzer Posted August 17, 2016 Posted August 17, 2016 (edited) Scott, I have no Pics, but it I have the kit. Two Sets of Tires, one Pad Printed. Nice Decals. Two intake Options, Stock and Dual Car, Midrise Manifold. Two different Spoilers for the Trunk, and an optional Spoiler/Air Dam for the front. Sharp, Clean molding in White Plastic. If you remember what MPC kits were like when new, this is exactly like an MPC kit was then. Oh, the hard plastic tires are in there too. P.S. I saw pics of this kit in another thread on this Forum, just in the last week or so.Page Six of the Road Runner Thread. Pics by Don Sikora II Edited August 17, 2016 by alexis spelling errors

Tom Geiger Posted August 19, 2016 Posted August 19, 2016 Guess you guys don't wanna hear a story about back when Volare kits were going for $5 at shows... and people laughed at you when you bought them!
Mark Posted August 19, 2016 Posted August 19, 2016 Guess you guys don't wanna hear a story about back when Volare kits were going for $5 at shows... and people laughed at you when you bought them! I remember picking up a couple of promos, in boxes, for $2 apiece. Still have them. Got a couple of the kits (store returns, damaged) for a buck apiece, and parted them out. The engine is pretty similar to the one in the MPC Duster and Dart Sport kits, only with a Torqueflite instead of a four-speed...
Maindrian Pace Posted August 20, 2016 Posted August 20, 2016 Guess you guys don't wanna hear a story about back when Volare kits were going for $5 at shows... and people laughed at you when you bought them! That was all the malaise era kits, nobody wanted any of them back in the days when we were all chasing down mint unbuilt '60s annuals. Now malaise cars are a hot thing, mainly because they never were a hot thing, and everyone likes to be a part of the new hot thing. And also because rodders are putting late model powertrains into them over in the 1:1 world, and an LSX in a disco era Nova or a new gen Hemi in a Volare are a fun and affordable way to Power Tour™ success.
Can-Con Posted August 20, 2016 Posted August 20, 2016 . Now malaise cars are a hot thing, mainly because they never were a hot thing, and everyone likes to be a part of the new hot thing. That may be part of it but I think it's also because people my age are starting to be the "old fogies" with the disposable income to be able to afford the cars we always wanted. For us the traditional "muscle cars" were a thing of the past when we finally got our driver's licence and the cars of the '70s and '80s are what we grew up with. Last year I finally got one of the cars I had always wanted when I was young, a '85 Trans Am. I was 20 when these cars were new and "the" car to have. I could never afford it back then but I have one now. I'm thinking it may be similar with kits. These old MPC and AMT annuals from that era where what we seen on the streets and built on our desks when we were kids. The cars from the '50s and early '60s were just "old cars" to us. We didn't identify with them like the older people did. So, now we're building these cars from our youth, just like the older generation did ,, with modern tech when possible ,, just like the older generation did. And I suspect the generation to come will do like wise ,, just like us.
