I think this car is far more worth of the GT40 legend.  It was designed as a race car at its core.  I believe the 2006 Ford GT was always intended and as a street car although they did take it racing.

Additional information on this is in the June issue of Road & Track. They have a writer who shadowed Ford and Chip Ganassi Racing in the development and testing of this car. Lots of good back ground info about the R & D at Sebring and Daytona.
