Jantrix Posted June 27, 2016 Posted June 27, 2016 I'm in the process of adapting the centrifugal supercharger from the Revell '57 Ford to an entirely different style engine. What I want to know is, what is the gizmo attached to the supercharger, shown in the red circles on the instructions? I think the weird part that connects them is supposed to be wiring but I can't be sure. My Google searches show a couple of hoses or cables from the Paxton but its very unclear what they are for or where they go. Any help would be appreciated before I start cutting.
Art Anderson Posted June 27, 2016 Posted June 27, 2016 That's the solenoid-actuated lubricator pump. This version Paxton (or McCulloch-take your pick) is an "on demand" supercharger, meaning that its action is controlled by manifold vacuum--and uses a recirculating ball drive system. The lubricator is also controlled by manifold vacuum.Art
espo Posted June 28, 2016 Posted June 28, 2016 As mentioned the super charger housing has to be lubricated. The crankcase oil was used in the early years. Many versions of this super charger used a sealed very small reservoir in later years.

Jantrix Posted June 29, 2016 Author Posted June 29, 2016 Thanks Bill. I found that one also. It's obviously using crank case oil for lubrication.
unclescott58 Posted July 5, 2016 Posted July 5, 2016 Again, I always amazed at how knowledgeable and helpful people at this site can be. Even though I have no plans to use the supercharger on either of my Revell 57's, I found the above very interesting. And I've learned something new.
