ZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzz......... oh this finally came up, cool! just kidding! seriously though, it's gotta back to slow mode again. it is taking about 2-3 minutes for a page to load etc..same as other guy's are saying.

Gregg, if you do go with another host may i suggest www.proboards.com ? I have been using their software for nearly 3 years and everything loads fast! Only maybe 2-3 times a YEAR does it get slow and it's usually because they are performing maintinence which only makes it that much better!

Come check my forums out and see what ya think...mine are both FREE by the way and the limitations are barely worth worrying about for what i do with them.

also for more reference, the following forums were built after they joined mine and saw how smooth they ran.

Here is what the IPB people said:

Hello,

I have looked at your site and the problem is being on a shared server. Your current stats show and average of 42 users every 15 min. While this does use some bandwidth, it uses more of the servers resources (processor/RAM). What happens is your site along with the other 65 - 75 web sites are trying to share the resource and when you get a spike in traffic, the server comes to a crawl and affects every site on the server.

I would recommend that you move to a semi dedicated server. Since you are sharing a server with only 3 - 4 people, you get more consistent performance and flexibility not available on traditional shared hosting accounts.

We have semi dedicated hosting starting at $55 per month that will meet the needs of your forum.

If you have any further questions or concerns, please let us know.

Thank You For Choosing Invision Power

Makes sense. ~$55 is pretty much the going rate for semi-dedicated these days. My hosting company for example charges $54.95.

;) Does this mean we all go in an pay X amount to cover the cost? or does the MCM board cover it? I'm willing to pay a fee to have it,cause now that I'm retired it truly does help, entertain, and provide me with a viable way to pass the time. I really like this forum and I would do whatever I can to keep it.I've made alot of friends here, and I'd like to keep em. So just tell me watcha need me to do Gregg. Thanks alot, and even if we gotta pay to keep it ,it's worth it to me! ;):P

Its been very slow for me. not as slow as some people but still very slow. whats funny is that its twice as fast when I on a computer at school then on my home computer. my home computer has a better internet connection.

That's over 600 bucks a year

No, doesn't come out any pocket but my own.

We'll have to see

I may see about setting up a server at home.

Only thing I would need would to set up the MySQL on it.
