Lowlife ! ! Posted July 28, 2016 Posted July 28, 2016 Hoods coming along well, and that red has come out perfect ! I always thought these were nick-named Scoobies, after Scooby Doo ! ?
Modlbldr Posted July 28, 2016 Author Posted July 28, 2016 Thanks for the comment Lowlife. I've always heard them called Subies (which I'm not fond of but it made for a good title) I still have a coat or two of putty to go on the hood, but I'm making progress during my breaks. I managed to get the first bit of the wet sanding started on the red one with the 4000 grit. Got the roof, trunk and hood done. It had a bit of cracks in the clearcoat. Sure hope I don't burn through again, but the worst of it is done. The rest of the body won't take as much. I may start on it with the 6000 or even the 8000 and see how it looks. I've got all but the painting around the window glass done and ready to go together.Tomorrow I'll put the interior together and try to finish the wet sanding on the red one.Later-
Modlbldr Posted July 29, 2016 Author Posted July 29, 2016 I got the interior together on the stock one. http:// http:// The body has quite a bit of deep orange peel that is being a bear to sand out. Gonna take a bit more work than I expected. Later-
Modlbldr Posted October 4, 2016 Author Posted October 4, 2016 So, an update on these. I had to strip the red (stock) one due to the clear eating into the paint. I have had a bear of a time getting it stripped and so I have lost interest in it for now. The custom one I am using it as a fill in around other projects. I managed to finish my 41 Willys and started a 56 Tbird. Anywho, while waiting for things on the Tbird to dry I managed to finish the silver that I used as a barrier against the blue plastic and get the first mist coats of Tamiya Orange on the custom STi. So here is where it sits now. http:// http:// Later-
Modlbldr Posted October 4, 2016 Author Posted October 4, 2016 Next couple of coats and the color is starting to come out. http:// http:// Now to let it sit for a couple of days. Then to wetsand and hit it with a few more color coats. Later-
Joe Handley Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 May have to try to use that hood vent trick on one of my AMT Snap General Lee kits, that looks like it's not too difficult.
