Fellas, just to put in a good word for Joseph--------pictures don't do these carbs justice! I just got my set in the mail, and they are OUTSTANDING! If you have a Hemi 'Cuda build planned in the future, you owe to yourself to pick up a set of these carbs! B)

Nope...BBD. I want to make 340s into 318s; different carb and the 2-bbl. intake.

I got you now your changing 340's into 318's then that would be correct.sorry about that!

Have you considered doing a Carter BBD, I think it's called? The 2-bbl. Chrysler used on a lot of small-blocks. It'll make making 340s into 318s a lot easier.

Hi Charlie; The Carter BBD is truly a piece that I would never have thought to do.  The only 2bbl carbs I have thought about doing are the Rochester and Holley carbs used on tripower and six pack performance motors.  Do you have any size references for the BBD?  I can probably make one just from photographs if I had the basic dimensions like air horn diameter, bore diameter, flange dimension, and overall height.  Are there any kits that have the BBD and a 2bbl intake for the 318?

Thanks,
Joseph

Unfortunately, I don't have anything immediately handy, but I can see if I can scare up something at one of the local junkyards. Dodge trucks and vans sold fairly well around here and most were 318-powered. If I can find something, would photos on all five visible surfaces be acceptable, with a visible ruler?

I'll see if I can scare up a 2-bbl. intake, too. I would suspect any of the LA-block 4-bbls. would be a good starting point.

do you need an actual thermo quad carb in order to produce the scale version?

It's not strictly necessary to have the actual item in hand, but it sure does make the process a lot easier and faster.

Photos are easy to come by, but hardly anybody puts a ruler into the picture, too.  The measurements are crucial to getting the correct scale.
