Just to clarify, I'm not talking about kits you won't build because you won't live long enough, or those you've lost interest in.

I am talking about rare kits that you enjoy having as intact, unbuilt kits, and intend to keep them that way.

Then the answer is no.  Even if rare, if it is in the stash it is intended to be built

Same here. In the stash, the possibility is 100%

Ditto.

That's what they were intended for.

I'm not a collector of anything except built kits. ^_^

And just to clarify, when I buy a kit, I buy it for the sole purpose of building it, rare or not, its getting built.

I have a MPC Dodge Pumping Iron kit made in 1980 molded in silver that I bought as a kit to save. It is just a Lil Red Express really but I like the box art and thought I would save the kit also. My AMT 72 GMC Step Side also.

I love to pick up old kits as and when I find them, which is very rare occurance over here, I do have 2 of those vintage kits in my stash that I will probably never build.

1st is a absolutely mint and untouched AMT 1962 Corvette annual kit, the condition of this one is like new, decal sheet looks crisp and clear, instruction sheet has not aged or yellowed, and amazingly all parts are still on the sprues. Its not the best kit in the world so for that reason Im not going to build it ...its much more satisfying to leave it as is.

2nd would be the AMT 1970.5 annual Camaro SS kit, the one with the orange drag version on the boxart, this one again is a time capsule and pretty difficult to get. I've had this kit for 14 years and I haven't touched it yet, and Im not likely too either.

I do normally have it in my head that Im going to build every kit I purchase, and just becuase its old that doesn't mean I won't build it, the above two kits are an exception. My latest kit on the bench is a very rare FROG/AMT 1968 Corvette annual kit ......that ones getting built, even though the body is not very accurate.

Not building a kit is actually something I do on a regular basis.
I'm one of those stinking collectors, you know.
