Sportabout Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 (edited) I wanted to build Belvedere 4d-door sedan but Fintstone 2d sedan body was too thick casting and needs lots of sanding. Solution was combine 2d ht body with 2d sedan roof. After some sawing I had needed parts. And after some glue and putty. Unnecessary moldings was sanded away. Gluing cracked somehow and I had to remove roof. When rear door panel lines was done roof was mounted again. Test fitting with interior and engine comparment. Engine will be Commando 426 because no slant six was left. Edited August 11, 2016 by Sportabout
CometMan Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 Cool project, Kari! Don't see nearly as many Plymouths built as Dodges, a four-door with a 426 would really surprise the heck out of the late model wanna-bes at the light!
Mopar - D Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 Nice conversion Kari will be following your build.
restoman Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 Very nice.My Dad had a '64 4dr Savoy - drove it 300,000 miles and the 225 never missed a beat. As a kid, it's the car that got me hooked on cars.I'll be paying attention to this build.
slusher Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 , a four-door with a 426 would really surprise the heck out of the late model wanna-bes at the light!I agree. Real nice work so far...
aussie_modler Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 Nice craftsmanship, it never ends with how good some of you guys are at making things happen. Keep it up.
Sportabout Posted August 19, 2016 Author Posted August 19, 2016 Some interior work done. Front seat is modified Belvedere rear seat and door panels are from Belvedere kit but right panel went to left and vice versa. Savoy style panels created to flat side. (bad English, sorry)
Mopar - D Posted August 21, 2016 Posted August 21, 2016 Nice work on the interior the extra doors look just right.
Sportabout Posted May 9, 2017 Author Posted May 9, 2017 Some progress has happened since last year. I built new door frames with styrene stripes. Body is painted and clearcoated with semimatt future (future+Tamiya X21). Paint was Chrysler Nassau blue '64 (Motip 54900). Windshield and rear window are made with clear PVC sheet (0,2 mm thin). Engine will be slant six. Chassis is nearly ready too but pictures later.
Ron Hamilton Posted May 10, 2017 Posted May 10, 2017 That one brings back memories. The very first 1964 new car I remember seeing as a kid was a 1964 Plymouth Savoy Taxicab. The local Chrysler Plymouth Dealership was 2 blocks from my school, so the next day I went down to take a look on the storage lot, as the actual introduction day was about a week away. After seeing your fantastic work, I may do one up as a cab. Thanks for posting your excellent work.
