KWT Posted August 21, 2016 Posted August 21, 2016 Started work on the Revell 67 Chevelle. Not sure about color just yet, or if I'm going with the custom wheels or going stock. Just gonna try to let this one come together as I go. Only made progress on the engine so far. This is my first wiring job, so I'm kinda proud of it lol.
mod3l Lover Posted August 21, 2016 Posted August 21, 2016 I think it looks good! Wiring motors is noteasy to do at all. Keep up the good work!! David S.
KWT Posted August 22, 2016 Author Posted August 22, 2016 Thank ya much... It wasn't that easy, probably cuz it was the first attempt... Not sure how much to trim off the wires, and it was a tight spot... But all in all, not as hard as I expected.
KWT Posted August 22, 2016 Author Posted August 22, 2016 I was pretty sure I had built this kit before... after diggin around the parentals basement, I finally found it. Wanted to see if I could any of it as inspiration. For some reason I had painted the engine block gold... the compartment silver.. and except for the hood and trunk, pretty much everything else was just blue. Don't know exactly what I was thinking at the time... only thing really intriguing is the 20+ years of dust bunnies in the seats. Have to say, my badge painting was better then though. I'd make a sloppy mess trying that today... Hands and eyes don't seem to work as well, anymore..
KWT Posted August 27, 2016 Author Posted August 27, 2016 Got a little more work done on the Chevelle this week. Got the chassis completed and the engine mounted... And the interior is done, to my ability anyway... Still have a little clean up work to do, here and there, but I like how it's starting to unfold..
KWT Posted August 27, 2016 Author Posted August 27, 2016 (edited) After an earlier discussion with a friend on here, I've decided to sand the body smooth and use the badge decals in the kit. Last time I built models so many years ago, those weren't even an option... Thank goodness somebody decided to start doing this lol.I decided on Tamiya Gunmetal for the base coat couple nights ago. I was gonna cover it with Clear Red, but after looking at it I kinda like it the way it is. Got it cleared with Testors Wet Look friday.. letting it do it's thing. Edited August 27, 2016 by KWT
mustang1989 Posted August 28, 2016 Posted August 28, 2016 Lookin' good so far Jeremy! Details look great.
KWT Posted August 28, 2016 Author Posted August 28, 2016 Thanks, Joe! And thanks for the consultation...
KWT Posted August 28, 2016 Author Posted August 28, 2016 Got it smoothed and the windows installed...
mod3l Lover Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 (edited) That finish is just beautiful!! The shine really pops out at you. It's so bright I gotta wear shades. "Shine on you crazy Chevy" or something like that!?! David S. Edited August 29, 2016 by mod3l Lover
KWT Posted August 30, 2016 Author Posted August 30, 2016 Thanks, I appreciate.. nice musical references as well..
Ace-Garageguy Posted August 30, 2016 Posted August 30, 2016 Yup, paint looks great, engine's nice and clean.
mustang1989 Posted August 30, 2016 Posted August 30, 2016 Looks good Jeremy. Good lookin' paint and I like that tint strip across the top of the windshield.
KWT Posted September 3, 2016 Author Posted September 3, 2016 Thanks, Joe! I do appreciate it.. Not as good as that sweet panel you got going on, but I'm liking it so far. Work picked up this week for the End of Month rush, so I really haven't had any time to work on the Chevelle this week. Made a little progress with the front and rear bumper... Tried to sit the body, interior and chassis together tonight... and wouldn't you know it, fitment issue. Trying to "finesse it" together... SNAP... 2 of the windows popped out and the dash came loose. Ok, maybe finesse is a little of an understatement. Either way, I'm sitting waiting on things to dry in place again. Then it's try, try again.
KWT Posted September 3, 2016 Author Posted September 3, 2016 Thanks Richard, I do appreciate it. Got the body, interior and chassis joined this morning. This has me looking at it... wondering if I will use the badge decals now at all... I've stared at it, and think it would look good with them, but I'm kinda digging the look without. Idk, we'll see. Anyway, off to set up for a gig tonight. Me and the band haven't played more than maybe twice all year, which is kinda odd.. should make for an interesting night. Have a good saturday folks.
slusher Posted September 4, 2016 Posted September 4, 2016 Great shine and finish on the paint. This is going to a real beauty..
Snake45 Posted September 5, 2016 Posted September 5, 2016 Looking good! Are those the wheels and tires from the "California" issue of this kit? I'm thinking of building one using those, except I want to use the lime-green body of the first pro street issue and polish the plastic. Just to be different.
KWT Posted September 5, 2016 Author Posted September 5, 2016 Thanks... Yeah, these are the extra wheels in the in the version with the black and orange on the box, and also the latest one with the red one on the box. I've been toying with getting that one of the bay for a while now... just never pulled the trigger yet. Always finding something else I want more... and something else.. and something else...
KWT Posted September 5, 2016 Author Posted September 5, 2016 (edited) Well, I think I'm gonna call this one... After looking at it, I kinda dig it without the decals. I can always add them later on if I feel the need. Gonna add this one last photo here, to kinda tie it up... Gonna add this over to the "Under Glass" with the rest of the photos. Thanks for the interest, the comments, and as always thanks for looking... Edited September 5, 2016 by KWT
