Intmd8r Posted September 1, 2016 Posted September 1, 2016 I remember seeing a Tri-Five floor pan/chassis for sale not all that long ago. It was made of resin, and was offered as a replacement for the Revell/Monogram kits to delete the mufflers and exhaust pipes molded in the kit stock version. The description said that it would fit the '55 (including the Badman kit), '56, '57, and Nomad kits.I seem to recall that it was listed on eBay, but I’m not 100% certain. One thing is for sure, I haven't been able to find it again. Anyone have any leads as to where to find this gem?I have plans to build a '57 Gasser, and this would be a good part to add to the parts list. That's assuming that the price + S&H isn't extravagant! Guess I can always break out the Dremel and modify the kit stock, if needed, but I thought I would ask first. Thanks!

This eBay listing is for the Pro Street chassis with the wheel tubs and 4-link rear. What I'm looking for is the "regular" chassis, less the exhaust pipes. Its better suited for the vintage Gasser look I'm after.
Exotics_Builder Posted September 1, 2016 Posted September 1, 2016 All I've seen is the tubbed or mini-tubbed chasses and for the newer Revell releases. Have you looked into whether a newer Revell chassis could be adapted?
Intmd8r Posted September 1, 2016 Author Posted September 1, 2016 (edited) Gerry - that is a good idea. As a matter of fact, I did compare the Monogram body of the early '90s release to that of the Revell California Wheels issue last fall - the dimensions look to be exact, just better casting with the Revell. In theory, the chassis could be adapted with very little effort.Unfortunately for me, when I was building my Revell issue, I did not have any plans or ambition for the Mongram kit yet. Perfect world, I'll use up the Monogram kit without buying another Bel Air kit. I'll have to check the Revell car when I get home to see if that has the exhaust molded into the floor pan...... Exotics_Builder Posted September 1, 2016 Posted September 1, 2016 I may have a spare chassis in the basement stash in a parts kit. If yes, it is yours. It may be for a 56 sedan. I will look and let you know.
Exotics_Builder Posted September 1, 2016 Posted September 1, 2016 Looks like I have a complete chassis for the 56 Del Ray, including suspension and, possibly exhaust. It is yours if you want it.
oldnslow Posted September 3, 2016 Posted September 3, 2016 Looks like you could use this Revell kit, it has the tubbed chassis.
Exotics_Builder Posted September 3, 2016 Posted September 3, 2016 I'll get that chassis out to you when I get back. Thanks for the leeway
Steven Zimmerman Posted September 3, 2016 Posted September 3, 2016 Looks like you could use this Revell kit, it has the tubbed chassis. I think this is the best, IMHO, tri - five chassis on the market. Poseable steering, separate frame from the floor pans and exhausts , most well detailed. I do not know how it lines up with the Revell offerings, but again, best frame out there.......'Z'
ZTony8 Posted September 3, 2016 Posted September 3, 2016 There are some differences at the front between the new tool '56 & '57 Revell kits and the new tool AMT chassis mainly around the engine compartment area.Nothing unchangeable, just a difference in the philosophies of the two companies of what part got molded with what other part.
bytownshaker Posted September 4, 2016 Posted September 4, 2016 Didn't Ed Flock make a tri 5 chassis with the exhaust deleted
