JTalmage Posted September 13, 2016 Posted September 13, 2016 (edited) First off, this kit was from 1976 and the decals were good! This is a really basic kit 1/24 kit that Monogram put out in the mid seventies that is basically a curbside kit. I really liked it when I bought it it a yardsale and saw that it was complete. So I decided that the little Porsche needed to be built box stock to honor it's yellowed and beaten box with the yellow car on the box art, that it had been in since 1976. I didnt really do anything w/ the interior, I painted it black and added a little detail to the dashboard. I just wanted it to have a nice paint job and good outside detail. Paint is Tamiya yellow and Tamiya clear. Took me about 3 and a half days just a couple hours or so per day to finish it. One thing I regret is using model masters turn signal amber for the rear lights and front bumper lights... and they don't show well on a yellow car. Oh well. I scribed rear trunk lines in it because they were non existent. Let me know what you think. Enjoy. Edited September 13, 2016 by JTalmage
Daddyfink Posted September 14, 2016 Posted September 14, 2016 Nice job! I remember those on the shelves!!
mustang1989 Posted September 17, 2016 Posted September 17, 2016 Nice build Jesse. It's a true wonder that the decals held up that well being that old. Wow!
WizPorsche944 Posted September 17, 2016 Posted September 17, 2016 I just bought one of these kits last week ! Now that I seen it built, I will have to build mine. Nice work !
doogie7046 Posted September 17, 2016 Posted September 17, 2016 Great looking build. I recently got one for my son, its the rally version. He is going from full 1/32 Monogram snap kits to these simple curbside glue kits. I wish these would be reissued as they make a nice transition kit for young builders and experienced builders can enjoy them by adding some extra details.
