Sixties Sam Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 (edited) This model was going to be a sedan delivery, but I changed my mind. It's a resin body with an old AMT 49 Merc chassis and interior. Lots of parts box stuff was used. Lowered suspension with poseable front wheels. Paint is R/C car paint and wet look clear. The wood framing was hand painted with acrylic tan paint. The dark wood panels are paper, printed from online and glued in place. Taillights are 59 Chevy lenses. It's curbside - no engine. The hood doesn't fit well. I gave up trying to make it fit! It's far from perfect, but I like the overall look. I hope you guys like it too! My next project is a teardrop trailer to go with it. Edited October 8, 2016 by Sixties Sam
cobraman Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 Very nice. Would like to see it again when you build the little trailer.
slusher Posted October 6, 2016 Posted October 6, 2016 Super sweet Wagon. Love the shade of orange you used. Tail lights are cool also..
wayne swayze Posted October 6, 2016 Posted October 6, 2016 Very nice. Would like to see it again when you build the little trailer. x2! Very cool,
Sixties Sam Posted October 8, 2016 Author Posted October 8, 2016 (edited) OK, here's the finished trailer with the Merc on my Dad's Garage diorama. Trailer is scratch built from styrene sheets and channel for the spars. 34 Ford fenders with parts box wheels, lights, etc. The round window frames are slices of a cap from an insulin pen. Easy and fun build! It will go on a campground diorama (when I get to it!). I just noticed - the teardrop door handle isn't on these pics. I added it later, plus license plates. DumpyDan Posted October 9, 2016 Posted October 9, 2016 Love it, I build a teardrop trailer from scratch a few years back. Took all of 8 hours to build from start to finish
Harry P. Posted October 9, 2016 Posted October 9, 2016 That is really cool! But man, I would love to see some matching wood on the trailer.
Sixties Sam Posted October 14, 2016 Author Posted October 14, 2016 That is really cool! But man, I would love to see some matching wood on the trailer. Harry, my original idea was to have dark wood sides with lighter wooden framing like the Merc, but I just got lazy! This was much easier to build. Sam
Harry P. Posted October 14, 2016 Posted October 14, 2016 Harry, my original idea was to have dark wood sides with lighter wooden framing like the Merc, but I just got lazy! Well, at least you're honest about it!
