willciviceg5 Posted October 24, 2016 Posted October 24, 2016 I bought my nephew a model kit a few months back which he assembled by himself and very strangely took care of and didn't break in bits apart from the rear glass engine cover. They are a very simplified kit and are lacking in detail but for a kid of his age it was ideal. He cornered me recently and said he wanted it painted blue so I took the chance to detail it while I was at itI fully stripped it down, detailed the full interior, painted the glass, added projectors to the headlamps, detailed the engine and chassis, stripped the chrome off the wheels and painted black, prepped the body then painted metallic blue and laqured.2 hours later (the quickest build I have ever done) and I was left with this.
misterNNL Posted October 24, 2016 Posted October 24, 2016 If anyone asks about that rear glass flaw tell 'em you were copying a detail from the real car that had a glass crack under extreme down pressure while driving at max velocity on the Autobahn.:)
carman1 Posted October 24, 2016 Posted October 24, 2016 that's really cool, love seeing kids in the hobby !
Intmd8r Posted October 24, 2016 Posted October 24, 2016 Very nice – your nephew must have been ecstatic! I know my little ones get excited whenever I incorporate one of their suggestions into my builds
randyc Posted October 24, 2016 Posted October 24, 2016 Looks good. And unlike my full detail, this one is finished - TWICE! LOL
misterNNL Posted October 24, 2016 Posted October 24, 2016 Looks really nice blue!Neither of these links works.
cwobeaman Posted October 26, 2018 Posted October 26, 2018 Interested to know what color/brand paint and clear you used? Also, I’m struggling to find the right paint for the dash...
Buffs Fan Posted November 6, 2018 Posted November 6, 2018 That's great that you are getting your Nephew into building I have done the same with my Nephew he is 12 now but I bought him his first kit the Revell Grave Digger snap 4yrs ago and he loved it
Tommy124 Posted November 7, 2018 Posted November 7, 2018 Nice result! Goes to show that the basic kit and body shape is really not bad...
Jim N Posted November 7, 2018 Posted November 7, 2018 Great job. It's also great to see a young person interested in the hobby.
