tbill Posted October 24, 2016 Posted October 24, 2016 been working on this for a bit, just now getting around to posting progress so this is the kit,
tbill Posted October 24, 2016 Author Posted October 24, 2016 fabbed up a headache rack for it, and used some decals on the motor and frame that i got from Kurt Mclukas[sp?] ages ago. cab will be black with green roof and fenders
gotnitro? Posted October 24, 2016 Posted October 24, 2016 Looks great! Nice details by adding the decals to the engine and frame, something I really need to remember
Jim B Posted October 24, 2016 Posted October 24, 2016 Looking really nice, Tom. Jeff's right, those decals add just a little bit more.
tbill Posted October 27, 2016 Author Posted October 27, 2016 thanks guys got some color on the cab and hood the other night, hope to get the black painted tonight
Tesla Posted October 27, 2016 Posted October 27, 2016 Great looking build Tom. What brand of green paint did you use? It's real nice.
tbill Posted October 27, 2016 Author Posted October 27, 2016 thanks Dennis. that is testors 'sublime green'. can't remember if it's under the 'model master' line of paint, or regular testors. its also lacquer paint.
gatorincebu Posted October 27, 2016 Posted October 27, 2016 Tom, Nice work on the motor , it looks real good. The chassis is also looking good. Be Well Gator
Tesla Posted October 28, 2016 Posted October 28, 2016 thanks Dennis. that is testors 'sublime green'. can't remember if it's under the 'model master' line of paint, or regular testors. its also lacquer paint. Thanks!
tbill Posted October 28, 2016 Author Posted October 28, 2016 Gator, thanks. Dennis, no problem. well, snafu city with the paint job masked off the green portions and proceeded to lay down the black, within seconds it looked like i had used paint stripper on the whole thing! not exactly sure what happened, both paints were testors lacquer. only thing i can figure is when i wet sanded the cab and hood i either had something on the paper, or something migrated off my kitchen counter and got on the plastic/paint. so i unmasked it after it tacked up and came to two conclusions, i didn't like the color combo [looked better in 1:1 than in scale] and it was going in the pond, so as of last night it is stripped, cleaned and ready for primer again when i get home from work. now to come up with another color combination.............
kilrathy10 Posted October 30, 2016 Posted October 30, 2016 This is looking pretty good.....I'm liking that engine color.....That is cool...
tbill Posted November 2, 2016 Author Posted November 2, 2016 well, it's not going to match the engine, but i went this route with the body, interior is also done and is now in the cab. making pretty good progress and am in the home stretch i think
DRIPTROIT 71 Posted November 3, 2016 Posted November 3, 2016 I thought that I was the only one that changed colors in the middle of a build due to unfortunate circumstances. L.O.L. It is looking great!! I like the paint!! The new color is great!!
tbill Posted November 3, 2016 Author Posted November 3, 2016 Brian, can't tell you how many times i start out with one color in mind, botch the paint, strip it, and end up going a whole 'nother direction............
Superpeterbilt Posted November 5, 2016 Posted November 5, 2016 Tom the blue and silver looks great. The 378 daycab looks just right hooked to that lowboy. Keep up the good work.
tbill Posted November 7, 2016 Author Posted November 7, 2016 thanks all more progress.... getting down to the end on this one, hope to have it about done by weeks end. thanks for looking.
tbill Posted November 9, 2016 Author Posted November 9, 2016 thanks guys, got the hood and fenders decal'd up the other night, won't be long now.....
Tesla Posted November 11, 2016 Posted November 11, 2016 What a fine looking build and it's a great match with the lowboy! Well done.
